St. Joseph County IFC Convention Held Monday The 88th St. Joseph County Convention IFC held on Monday, March 21. in North Liberty, found the following members of the Woman's Community Club of Walkerton in attendance: Mrs. Robert Bowman, Mrs. William Dickson. Mrs. Philip Waldron. Miss Ethel Bierly. Mrs. Leonard Beaty. Mrs. George Hillis. Mrs. Acil Hunter. Mrs. Ralph Lichtenbarger, Mrs. Allen Seaholm and Mrs. Gus Verklor. The Walkerton club was well represented with participation in the program by Miss Bierly. secretary of the County; Mrs. Hillis.Public Affairs Department Chairman of the County, who reported on child abuse and crime and Mrs. Bow man who gave the invocation and reported on local club activities for the past year. Mrs. Osborn Fisher, president of St. Joseph County IFC, welcomed the clubs telling them of the convention theme — “Think-Talk-Act.” The principal speaker for the morning session was Mrs. Lloyd

Jeffries. 13th District President who addressed herself to “Facts and Figures.” concerning the district. After the luncheon served by the North Liberty Woman's Club who were the hostesses, the meeting re-convened for the afternoon session. Mrs. Audine Manuel presided at the organ for both sessions. During the morning Mrs. DuWaync Burch sang “He Touched Me." in conjunction with the “In Memory." program given by Mrs. Cecil Dewey. Special music for the afternoon was provided by the North Liberty High School Chorus which sang several selections, directed by Mr. John Fitzhenry. A clever, humorous and informative talk “Somebody Say Something," was given by Mrs. Kenneth Rea. who was the principal speaker for the afternoon. An invitation to the 1978 Convention to be held in South Bend was given by the Progress Club. Miss Bierly reported nine clubs in attendance with b 8 members present. The North Liberty Club won first place honors with 17 members present and Walkerton took second place with 10 present. Repeating the collect, the con vention adjourned at 2:30 p.m.
JOHNSON TOWNSHIP EXTENSION CLUB NEWS A white elephant sale and guest day were special features of the Johnson Township Extension Homemakers Club Wednesday, March 16 at the Community Building. A ham carry-in dinner was served at 12:30 with Mrs. Esther Caufman giving the table prayer. Mrs. Brooke Bowers, president, presided at the business session. Roll call was answered by members introducing their guests. Mrs. Martha Mull reported for the nominating committee with all officers retained for another year. A history of the Johnson Township Club was presented by Mrs. Elburt Place. A booklet compiled by Mrs. Place and her daughter. Mrs. Mary Godsey, gave a complete history of the senior members of the club since 1928, which Mrs. W. W. Place, started. She also was the first county president in 1925 to 1928. A copy of the history was presented to members of the club by Mrs. Elburt Place at the at the close of the meeting. The birthday song was sung for Mrs. Edward Vanderheof and Mrs. Ruth Clark. Attendance awards were received by Mrs. Doris Ross. Mrs. Sidney Smith, Mrs. Charles Travelbee, Mrs. William Davis, Mrs. Helen Mitchell and Mrs. Kaugman. Mrs. Mull served as auctioneer for the sale, which was entertaining and profitable to the extent of $54.50 for the club. Hostesses for the day were Mrs. Leroy Smith. Mrs. Lloyd Thomas and Mrs. Jon Smith. COUNTY LINE CLUB MEETS The County Line Club held their first meeting of the year Monday with 17 members present. After not meeting during the winter months, all were glad to be back together again. The meeting was held in the home of Mary Hahn with Mildred Hostetler assisting.

Spring has arrived and the theme of Spring was carried out throughout the evening with kites, rain drops, flowers, birds and Easter. Winners of the games were Goldie Skinner. Helen Pogodzinski. Helen Smith, Louise Waldron and all received prizes from a concentration game of flowers. Millie Daniels and Geneve Creech won the door prizes. During the business meeting new officers were voted in. Loretta Kearcher. president, passed her office on to Clara Mae Kronk Helen Pogodzinski is vicc-presi- , dent; Mildred Hostetler, treasurer; and Mary Hahn, secretary.
