North Liberty Girls & Boys State Delegates Ihe North Liberty Girls and Boys Staters have been selected from the Junior Class with one delegate and alternate for each of the programs. Girls State will be held at Indiana State University at Ferre Haute from June 19 through June 2b. Bovs State will be a week earlier, also at Indiana State University. starting June 11 and run mng through June IK. £ ® Bv WJ 7I Lisa Bauman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Bauman. 60413 Sumption Trail, South Bend, has been selected by the faculty of North Liberty High School as the Girls State delegate. She was chosen because she shows outstanding qualities of leadership, honesty, courage, cooperativeness and scholarship. The purpose of the program, locally sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. Post 365, of North Liberty, is to educate the young women in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of American ( itizenship, and to give them in a realistic manner, an opportunity to learn the problems of government with a special emphasis on the contribution women can make to the welfare of the city, county, state and nation It has been designated to give actual experience in the problems of self government as it operates in Indiana Lisa is a member of the National Honor Society, the school newspaper staff, the Foreign Language Club and the Drama Club. Ever serve on a jury in a murder case? Would you like to? Ihe North Liberty High School Drama Club will present their version of Ayn Rand s “Night of January 16th" on March 25 and 2b in the North Libertv High School gym at K:(X) p.m. The uniqueness of this drama is that the jury is selected from the audience and actually votes on the guilt or innocence of the young mistress on trial for the murder of the world’s greatest financier. Ihe names of the jurors will be given to the court clerk and the jurors will be called from the audi once. Thev will take their places in a regular jury box. and will be sworn in by the judge. After the final act the jurors will retire and vote upon their verdict. “Night of Januarv 16th" is Ayn Rand's onlv play. She is most noted for her novels, “Ihe Fountainhead" and “Atlas Shrugged" Ihe plav is directed by Nancy Shells Royce. Heading the cast are, from left to right. John Sheneman. Dennis Gor don. WALKERTON TOWN BOARD NEWS Ihe Walkerton I own Council met Monday. March 21 for a regular meeting with 0. C. White. Jack Rizck and Michael Corbertt present \ motion was made and it was carried to dispense with the reading of the March ' minutes Routine business matters came before the board with the following occuring: request was make bv lee DeLand to build a small greenhouse on his property at 404 Kentucky Street. Permission will be granted bv the board it he can meet neces sarv regulations. Leigh Rov Hahn, speaking on behalf of the Woodlawn (emeterv Board, wanted to know if the I own Board had the cemetery in mind tor annexation Ihe Board stated that a letter from the ( emeterv Board requesting annexation would have to precced action. A discussion was held concern mg a previously proposed stag partv to be held at the Fire Station Ihe stag partv was supposed to be given bv the firemen for the pur pose of the Ambulance Committee. Leigh Rov Hahn stated that the partv was not approved bv the ma joritv of the firemen and therefore thev did not wish to have the party. A lengths discussion involved the hiring of a policeman to replace the recently resigned Richard Kun kle. Ihe board said thev would study the possibility of replacement and trv to come up with a solution bv the next regular board meeting Police officer Whitaker was put in cbarge of investigation grants for a mobile unit and w alkie talkie radio. He stated that a preliminarv inquiry already had disclosed that the tow n share would onlv be s°o of the cost. Ihe board has been receiving quite a lew complaints about the lack of concern on the part of the residents in town in regards to trash. Ihe board wishes to set up some kind of a committee for the purpose of planning and carrying outaclean up for Walkerton. Any one who is interested and would care to participate in such a project should contact the clerk treasurer's office.

Jones Resigns As Coach At John Glenn Mike Jones, varsitv baskctbal coach at John Glenn High School the past two seasons, has submit ted his resignation as a coac h to tht board of school trustees effective at the end of this school vear Jones came to John Glenn High School four wars ago as a B team coach under John Hans and when Hans resigned after the 19'4 '5 school war, Jones was appointed as th* varsitv basketball coach.
