The John Glenn basketball homecoming activities came to a climax on Friday evening. February 25. when the crowning ceremony took place between games of the John Glenn and Tippecanoe Valley contest. Crowned king was Clyde Gaw and queen was Denise Lowry. Marshall-Starke Annual Awards Dinner Set The third annual awards dinner for the Marshall Starke Association for Retarded Citizens will be held at The Inn. Koontz Lake, on Tuesday. March 15 at 7:30 p.m. Also nominations for “Special Education Teacher of the Year” have been coming in from all over Marshall and Starke counties. All nominees will be acknowledged. The top three nominees will be special guests for the evening The enthusiasm conveyed for the local teachers has been very gratifying to the Association. Others attending will pay for their own meals. The winner will receive a certificate of appreciation and a one hundred dollar savings bond from the MSARC. This event will replace the regular meeting of the Association which was to have been held on the third Tuesday of the month. Newly signed members who have not received invitations to the awards dinner are invited to attend. The Inn is located on State Road 23. just north of the business district at Koontz Lake. The next regular meeting will be on May 19th, at 7:30 p.m., at the Marshall-Starke Development Center, 1901 Pidco Drive, Plymouth. BTH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL TOURNEY The Bth grade girls basketball tourney was held at Urey Middle School this year. The Urey girls worked very hard and took second place. Participating teams were Plymouth, who was beaten by Bremen in the first game, and La Ville, who was beaten by Urey in the second game. Plymouth beat LaVille in the consolation game bv a score of 35 to 27. The Urey girls put up a good fight in the final game, but ended up loosing to Bremen by a score of 22 to 12. Top scorers for both games on

the Urey team were Pam Aitken and Tammy Tuttle with 12 points apiece and Tracy Florian helped the squad with 10 points All three girls helped the team a great deal on rebounding. Carey of 30809 New Road, North Liberty, Ind., has been promoted to technical sergeant in the U. S. Air Force. Service Carey, an automatic flight control instructor, is assigned at George AFB, Calif., with a unit of the Air Training Command.
