March I and March 15 the Ladies of North Liberty Church of Christ will visit us at 1:30 p.m. for music and devotions. March 8 the Presbyterian Ladies will entertain during our lunch period. Thursday, March 3 we will have a beauty clinic. Facials, nails and makeup will be done at 1:30 p.m. On Thursday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m., the Workman Sisters will again sing for our pleasure. March 17 we'll celebrate the wearing of the green with a “Rock A Thon" in our lounge to help raise money for Walkerton’s new ambulance. This will be held from 10:00 a m to 430 p.m. There will be music, entertainment and refreshments will be served. On Sunday, March 20 at 2:00 pm, we will celebrate the birthdays of Bill Stephani, Frances Schutte. Art Donathan, Lucy Lawson, Pete Relos and Minner Ever hart The “Good Time” dancers of Knox will entertain. March 22 we will play bingo at I 30p.m March 24 our old friends, the Harmonicas Group will entertain at 7 00 p m To finish this month with a flourish. the Grade School Chorus will present a program at 2 00 p m. on 1 uesday, March 29 Church services will be held every Monday night at 7:00 p m
BETTER HOMES CLUB MEETS The Better Homes Extension (lub met Monday evening. February 28. at the Walkerton Community Building with the meeting being opened by the president, Mrs. Clyde Stickley with the pledge to the flag. Roll call was answered with something that our club used to do that was fun. A short business meeting was held. Plans were made for a bake sale to be held in May. A 4-H benefit, pancake and sausage supper is being held at LaVille Elementary School on March 2b from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. for the Esther Singer Memorial Exhibit building was announced. The supper is sponsored by all extension clubs in Lincoln. Liberty. Madison and Union townships. A bake sale will also be held at this time. Each member is asked to contribute to this. Have your baked goods at Mrs. Harold Eddingers by 1:00 p.m. on March 26. Mrs. Roy Freeman gave a health and safety report on fire prevention for the fireplace and house plants that are poisonous. Mrs. Howard Clingenpeel gave the lesson on the metric system. It is expected that by 1980 the United States will be using metric measures predominately. The meeting closed with the club prayer. The door prize was won by Mrs. Alan Eddinger. Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Clingenpeel and Mrs. Freeman. Hostesses for the March meeting will be Mrs. Alan Eddinger and Mrs. William Zlatos. JOBITUARItS WILLIAM STEINWALD William Steinwald, 80. of Woodstock. Illinois, passed away on Friday, February 25. He was bom on November 6. 1896, in Germany . He is survived by his wife, Hedwig (Porter) Steinwald; two sons. Glen, of Woodstock and Wayne of berkley. Missouri; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. he was a machinist for the South Bend Lathe Company and retired in 1963. He was a former Walkerton resident moving to Woodstock. Illinois, in 1974. He was a member of the Walkerton Masonic Lodge No. b!9 F. & A M. and a past patron of the Walkerton Chapter Order of Eastern Star No. 319. Funeral services were held on Saturday. February 26 at 10:30 a m. in the Schneider-Leucht Chapel. Woodstock. Illinois. Burial was in Elmlawn Cemetery. Elmhurst. Illinois. ARTHUR W. NEUHAUS Feneral services for Arthur William Neuhaus, 86, route 4. Walkerton. who died at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, February 24 at the LaPorte Hospital following a brief illness, were at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church. Walkerton, with Rev. William E. Hughes, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Walkerton. He was born on January 21. 1891 in Chicago, Illinois to George and Emma (Roshausen) Neuhaus. He had lived in Walkerton since 1953 coming from Chicago. He was a retired machinist for the Chicago Transit Company. He was married on July 2. 1912. in Belleville. Illinois. to Irene McEwan, who precceded him in death on March 13. 1974. He was married on December 15, 1975. to Emma Hoffman, at Arbor. Michigan, who survives along with a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Carlson, of Moline, Illinois; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren He was a member of the United Methodist Church. Walkerton; a 63 year member of the Masonic Lodge and a 50-year member of the

Machinist Union No. 49 of Chicago. Walkerton Masonic Lodge No. 619 F & AM. of which he was a member. held memorial services at the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton. F. VAN DIERENDONCK Ferdinand J. Van Dierendonck, 88. of route 2, Walkerton, passed away at 6:55 am. Wednesday. February 23, in the LaPorte Hospital. He was born on May 24. 1888, in St. Cruz, Belgium to Leopold and Mathilda (Stevens) Van Dicrendonck. In 1912 he emigrated to the United States living first in South Bend before moving to Fish Lake in 1920. He was a retired farmer. He married Rose Marie Pickavet on June 23. 1920 in South Bend. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Fish Lake and a veteran of World War I and a past commander of the American Legion Post 400, Fish Lake. He was also a member of the LaPorte County Farm Bureau. He is survived by his wife; four sons. Albert, of Indianapolis. Maurice. of LaPorte. George, of Walkerton and James, of the Nether lands; two daughters. Mrs. Lawrence (Bertha; Hcrtges. of LaPorte and Mrs. Charles (Joan) Wilhelm, of Indianapolis; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one bother. Oscar, of Brugge, Belgium. He was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday. February 26. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Rev. Leonard Kronkowski officiating. Burial was in Patton Cemetery. RUSSELL J. HENDRICKSON Russell J. Hendrickson passed away on February 15 after a five month illness. He was the husband of the former Lorraine Ricketts Stodolny, former Koontz Lake resident who now resides in West Covina, California. He was the son of former Koontz Lake reisdents. Kate and Ted Hendrickson. all of whom preceded Hendrickson, all of whom preceded him in death. Funeral services were held on February 17 at Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, California.
