The visitors, who were carlies victimized bs a strong John Glenn free throw performance in the 62-55 decision. were quicker with the trigger this time around. Field goals were evenly traded through the first seven minutes of pla> as Ron Haney and Barrs Heim put Glenn on the scoreboard. Lcn Jaskc's basket and a pair of free throws by Heim were answered by LaVille"s Pat Cox. whose second goal knotted the score at 12 all with 29 seconds remaining. Then the Falcons were to assume a lead that they never relinquished. Senior guard Jerry Johnson, who turned in a fine all-around game, took his man inside to the baseline and cut to the basket for a pass from Hanes. Johnson zeroed in on the short attempt and was fouled by Cox at the 17-secondl 7 -second mark. The three-point play gave the Falcons their 15-12 lead at the quarter. That margin alternated between three and five points at the start of the next eight minutes. LaVille began to be a little more selective in their shots but the strategy back fired and John Glenn grabbed the momentum. After center Jeff Yates, the only big man in the Lancers' lineup to contend with the Falcons' front line strength, pushed through a rebound at 6:40. the Falcons npped off 11 consecutive points. Hanes was first with a field goal

and Johnson followed that with an right-footer off an inbounds pass from Damon Flaugher. Hanes and Flaugher then cashed in two free throws apiece to push the score to 2’16. With 3:10 left before intermission Flaugher added another point from the chants line, and Heim climaxed the spurt with a 15-foot bank shot after a I aVille turnover at 2:32. The lancers finally found the range at 1:51 when guard Jeff Kowatch canned a jump shot behind a Cox screen. Mike Hosinski came through with a free throws, and when he misfired on the second attempt. Kowatch hit the second rebound to make the board read 30-21. Heim added his third goal of the quarter just inside one minute to close out the first half scoring. Plas in the third period found the Falcons stretching their lead to as mudi as 17 points. After Bill Rash hit a two-pointer for the Lancers to make it a 40-27 score midway through the quarter. Scott Doll swished a ten-footer from the left side and Heim used his height to score over Hosinski in the center lane. After Rash and Haney exchanged baskets and Johnson missed two free throws at 1:40 the visitors staged a mini-comeback. Cox was good on a jumper from the deep corner of the left side; Steve Feitz hit a 15-footer; and Cox went right back to the corner for another two points to make it 46-35. With eight seconds left Johnson manuevered for an easy Falcon basket inside, but that was answered by Feitz’s jumpshot at the horn. After Feitz missed an opportunity to close the gap with a free throw in the first 30 seconds of the final period Heim and Haney took charge to put the contest out of reach. Heim hit nothing but net from 20 feet and Haney followed with a rebound of a Johnson miss for a 52-37 Glenn bulge at 6:39. The action began to get ragged from that point as both teams could only hit a total of three field goals before time was out. Haney and Doll had baskets sandwiched around six free throws by Johnson for the victors. For the night Glenn had a very creditable 51 per cent from the
field, 24 of 4’ attempts. Johnson was six of ten, Haney seven of 12 and Heim seven of 16 shots. LaVille in the meantime struggled through a 33 per cent night on 19 of 5’ attempts. Rebounding proved to be a clear case of Falcon superiority. 46 to 27. Heim was the game leader with IX while Hanes added nine. Individual scoring found Johnson with 19 points and game honors. Heim and Haney each had 16. while LaVille was paced by Rash and Cox with ten points each.
