Rev. and Mrs. Robert C. Bowman returned from a three week vacation in Florida last ueek. Dosing was hazardous going and coming. Stops were made in Fort Lauderdale and Bradenton They visited with Dr and Mrs V. B Wolfe, in Sebring and were overnight guests of Mr and Mrs Eugene Kerchaert. in Lake Placid. Mr and Mrs. Was nr Burch and Mr and Mrs Frnest Bros old returned on Thursday esening of last ueek from a ten day vacation in Jamacia. Mr and Mrs. Harold Knowlton were in Indianapolis on Tuesdas of last week to attend the funeral of a grand nephew of Mrs. Knowlton. Mr and Mrs. Claude Shcneman. of North Liberts. came Sunday to spend the das with her mother. Mrs Chester Thavcr. Mrs. Alta Bowers was also a guest at dinner. Mrs. Robert Au aid is a medical patient in the LaPorte Hospital. On Monday esening of this week Mr and Mrs. Wyman Hochstetler and daughter entertained at dinner for their son Quinn s birthday. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Skinner. Mr. and Mrs. Was ne Hostetler and family. Mr. and Mrs. Ros Williams and son. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Adkins and April. Mr. and Mrs. Hayward Stuntz and family of Plymouth, and Mr. Ervin Stuntz. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stanley, of Koontz Lake, came back on Sunday evening from a nine day vacation in Florida They were accompanied on the tnp by their daughter inlaw. Mrs. Larry Stanley and three sons. While there they called on the following former Koontz Lake residents. Mr. and Mrs. John Sorenson at St. Petersburg; Mr. and Mrs. George Downs, at Winter Haven. Mr. Downs had just spent two weeks in the bosptial in Winter Haver; and Mr. and Mrs. Claude Beger. at Indersess. Mrs. Stanley said it was cool and she wore her winter coat. One day the temperature was in the 70's and they reported the vegetable and fruit crops sever!) damaged by freezing. Mrs. Fayette Dunn came home Monday from a two week vacation in Florida. She went with a group of five other women by car. At

Winter Haven she visited her sister and the group visited several places of interest She stated that the oranges were not hurt too bad by the cold but the vegetables are ruined. She said they were at one orange juice factory where there were dozens and dozens of trucks of oranges waiting to be processed. They also stopped in Plains, Georgia. and enjoyed that stop very much. They never got a sight of Bills and couldn't sec President Carter's house because of security precautions, they had no trouble on the roads due to the weather. Mrs. Alice Sheaks. of the Al-N-Dor Restaurant, and several friends surprised Mrs. Newton Williams Sunday. January 30 for her birthdav. The group gathered at the restaurant at noon. Mrs. Sheaks had baked her special chocolate cake which she makes several times a week for employees and special friends. Mrs. Williams shared her cake with friends who were eating there also, like Lucile Ward. Gus Shultz. Jacie Radamacher. Carol Bruansforf, Mrs. Alice Sokola and her granddaughters Maschelle and Monique Pavey. plus a Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Eyles. of Koontz Lake who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They have owned lake property here since 1947 and are living here permanently, coming from Chicago. It was a nice surprise for Mrs. Williams and for those who just happened in. Folks arriving this week from vacations in Florida will be the Wayne Covers. DeWayne Paveys and son Wesley, and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hostetter. RECEIVES DEGREE Greg I. Bohac. a native of Walkerton. Indiana, received a master's of business administration degree from Tulane University following conclusion of the 1976 fall semester. The degree was conferred recently by Dr. Sheldon Hackney. Tulane president. PAST MATRONS CLUB MEETS Thirteen members of the Past Matrons Club of Walkerton met at
the Montana Charlie’s Restaurant Tuesday evening. January 25. for a dinner meeting. Mrs. Lcßoy Whitaker. Worthy Matron of Chapter 319. Order of the Eastern Star, was a guest. Due to the absence of the president and vice-president. Mrs. Gene Whitteberry conducted the meeting Her greeting was a poem "Trees of Friendship." It was voted to have the club’s own Christmas Cheer committee next December The next meeting is scheduled for May 10, at which time Mrs. Whitaker will be initiated into the club Mrs. George Pfeifer and Mrs. John McCombs will make arrangements. The door prize was awarded to Mrs. Whitteberry. Dayhuff On Record-Breaking Tri-State Team ■ ■ V '7* M V 4J v y(w Tri-State University's basketball team is really rolling after setting a new school record for the longest running winning streak. The Trojans won 14 straight games to break a record that was set in November of 1964. The squad is now 17-3 on the season after defeating conference foe Grace College recently at Winona Lake. Tri-State is leading all teams in conference running having a 6-0 record. After completing 20 games, the Trojans are averaging 75.7 points per game, showing a win margin of 10.7 points over their opponents.

The Trojans are strong shooters from the charity stripe making 71.8 percent of their shots to their opponcnt's67.3 percent. Thirteen men currently see action for the team as Coach Mark Peterman has split the squad using all of the team's talent. Seeing action from Walkerton is Bruce E. Dayhuff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Day huff. 106 (lark St. A graduate of John Glenn High School, he is majoring in accounting. Bruce has carried the majority of the offensive load for the Trojans in his 20 games to date. He leads the team in assists with 73.
