On the other hand, cattle and hog feeders re quire larger supplies of higher quality food for their animals during cold weather. "It is very important to feed high quality feeds during severe weather.” points out K. S Hendrix, Purdue extension animal scientist "Cattle arc less susceptablc to cold stress when they arc fed a high quality diet. "Farmers who are feeding poor quality hay or roughage should add three to five pounds of corn to the diet, particularly for animals which arc in thin condition.
