A short business meeting was held with Lucille Dickson, vicepresident. presiding in the absence of the president. Helen Bowman. NIPSCO GAS SUPPLY COSTS INCREASE Northern Indiana Public Service Company has been notified by one of its suppliers. Midwestern Gas Transmission Company, of an annual increase of 51.473.199 m the cost of gas to NIPSCO effective January 1,1977. To offset this increase. NIPSCO filed new rate schedules December 2 with the Public Service Commission of Indiana in accordance with an order of the commission issued December 11. 1970. authorizing gas distribution utilities in Indiana to recover such gas supply increases whenever they have been allowed by the Federal Power Commission. As a result of this latest increase, the average NIPSCO residential customer using gas for home heating will pay approximately S' • cents per month of 63 cents per year more for gas service beginning in January, while NIPSCO residential customers using gas for household purposes other than home heating will pay about I'/j cents per month or 16 cents per y ear more The effectiveness of the new rate schedules is subject to the approval of the Public Service Commission of Indiana.
