Mr. and Mrs. Claude Shcneman spent last week touring southern Indiana and seeing all its beauty. I hex spent one day at Nashville and also attended the Covered Bridge Festival at Rockville. Mrs. Huff is Mrs. Hammaker's daughter and they visited Mrs. Hammaker on Mondav for lunch and then visited the Don Blad farm as they had never seen big machinery in action as in Switzerland no one has more than 20 acres. Ihey enjoved watching them dig potatoes and hearing about the mint distilling and the large corn fields. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Boggs, of Ardmore, were Friday evening callers of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Platz. Mr. and Mrs. Junior Boyer, of Bremen, and Mr. and Mrs. Danny Nickerson and children, of Lake Os The W<xxis. Bremen, were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Evelyn Stephenson. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Bickel, of New Carlisle, called on Mrs. Gertrude Shcneman Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ulbricht spent Sunday with their daughter and son-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Howell and sons, in Argos. They also attended the dedication service for their grandson James Aaron at the Congregational Church in Argos. Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Schrader, of Oceanside. California, are visiting his mother, Mrs. Edna Schrader and also his sisters and their families. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Strope and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Moon spent several days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Dan Strope and other relatives as North Vernon. Indiana. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Reamschnyder were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kaser, of South Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Noel and children, of Goshen, and Mrs. May Clark were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Clark. Afternoon callers were Mr. and Mrs. Eddy Frapp and family, of Hebron. Indiana. Mrs. Edna Kane was a Sunday dinner guest of her daughter. Mrs. Alice Zahn. Mr. and Mrs. Gale Merrick. Nancy and Michael, of South Bend, and Mr. and Mrs. Don McDaniel, of Rolling Meadows. Illinois, were Sunday aftermnin callers of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Shcneman. Mrs. Esther Harman spent the • week end and several days with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bailey, in Goshen. HOME EXTENSION CLUB MEETS The Liberty Tow nship Club held the October meeting at the home of Mrs. Herman Steele. Eight members and one guest spent the morning sewing cancer pads. A bountiful carry in dinner was served at the nixin hour. Mrs. Steele, president, called the afternoon business session to order. Salute to the flag was given and the creed repeated in unision. Committee chairmen were appointed: Helath and Safety. Ruth Bare; citizenship. Thelma Knowlton; cultural arts. Martha McCrosky, Flower Fund. Evelyn Bcron. Lessons were assigned for the year and program books completed. FOOTBALL TEAMS ON THE ROAD THIS FRIDAY Both John Glenn and North Liberty will be playing road games this week as the Falcons will visit South Central and the Shamrocks will travel to Culver Community High School. Glenn will be attempting to get back on the winning path again and up their record with their sixth win against two losses. The Satellites have been an up and down team and will be coming off a poor showing against North Liberty last Friday night. They are 4-3 this year. The Shamrocks meanwhile will be looking to go ahead of the board by winning their fourth game in seven starts. The Culver team is in their first season of varsity competition and the next member of the Northern State Conference has won twice this season playing mostly varsity but some B teams. PROGRESSIVE DINNER ENJOYED BY CLUB The North Liberty Drift-Breakers had a progressive dinner on Saturday. October 9 and wish to thank all those who worked and donated to make the dinner a great success. The evening began with hors d'oeuvres at the home of the David McKessons and salads were served at the Frank Sailer home and the main course was enjoyed at the Audie Manuels with dessert at the Shamrock.

Work-A-Thon For CROP Set For Saturday, Nov. 6 CROP Work-A-Thon will be held on Saturday, November 6. with each voung person to raise money for CROP by soliciting sponsors to pledge an amount for every hour he or she works. There will be no charge made to those who have the work done for them. For instance do you have leaves to be raked? Windows to be washed? Garages to be cleaned? Arc there work projects around your house you just have not been able to get to? If so. you qualify to be helped out by many youth and young adults for free. They will be working to raise money for the Christian Rural Oversees program (CROP) which uses its money to help feed and clothe the hungry throughout the worls. Anyone is eligible to have the workers come, although first priority will be given to the handicapped and senior citizens. Also, the work is limited to Liberty and Green Townships, and North Liberty. If you have such work, please call 656-3144 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12 noon. Tuesday through Satrudav. If you would like to sponsor a worker, please call the same number. TOUR TO THE OZARKS On October 2 thirty-six people of whom twenty-six were senior citizens started to the Ozarks. After a long ride we enjoyed a get acquainted dinner, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where we spent the first night. Sunday morning, bright and early, found us riding past many cotton fields where we had our only mishap of the entire trip, a flat tire on the bus. We had to ride twelve miles to a motor court to have it repaired. Sunday night we stayed at the Camelot Hotel, in Little Rock. Monday morning we toured the Arkansas Territorial Restoration. It was a very enlightning time. We were given a news sheet printed on an old press of 200 years. Tuesday was a rainy trip for us but a god sent rain for the people of the state. We visited Booger Hollow. Arkansas, population 7, count’in one coon dog. We had dinner and rested at Silver Spring. In the evening we saw' the play. "Sheppard of the Hills." out in the open air. We were blanket covered as it was truly chilly. Wednesday we toured Silver Diamond City for about three hours. At 8:30 that evening we truly enjoyed the "Hillbilly Jamboree." We saw Dog Patch in Arkansas. Thursday we left for Hannibal. Missouri, sightseeing thru the hills. Then had our farewell dinner and birthday party of one of the

guests at the Holiday Inn, also a long boat ride. Friday we toured the homes of Mark Twain, Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. It was a real pleasure to have a look back into their lives. We arrived in South Bend at 8:30 p.m. where I called my son-in-law Phillip Freeze, of Buchanan. Michigan to deposit Vesta DeCoudres and myself safely home, happy but bus weary.
