NORTH LIBERTY TENNIS TEAM NEWS We must apologize for the results of the matches being late and incomplete, but the results have not been turned in to our office and this is what has been acquired through other sources to date. September 9 the Shamrocks were shut out by Jimtown. NSC foe, by a 5-0 decision. Matches were as follows, singles, Bob Moore (J) over Kriss High (NL) 6-1 and 6-2; Jay Killian (J) over John Wilcox (NL) 6-3 and 6-2; Mark Sauder (J) over Randy Hummer (NL) 6-0 and 6-1. In the doubles Brian Metcalf and Dave Moss (J) over Todd Allsop and Rod Mcßride (NL) 6-1 and 6-3; Robin Luse and Steve Pontius (J) over Mark VanderHagen and Jim Herter (NL) 7-5 and 6-l. September 14 the team was defeated by another Northern State Conference foe, this time LaVille. 3-2. In the singles Mike Snyder (L) Defeated Kriss High (NL) 6-1 and 6-2; John Wilcox (NL) won over John Isenberg 6-4. 4-6 and 6-4. In the doubles Gordon Slace and Mark Vaugh (L) beat Rod Mcßride and Todd Allsop (NL) by scores of 6-0 and 6-2 and Jim Herter and Mark VanderHagen (NL) won over John Murrcv and Don McCan (L) 7-6 and 6-2. The tennis team again took a bitter defeat by Triton on September 20 bv a 3-2 score. Match

In the doubles John Wells and Kyle Kauffman (T) over Rod Mcßride and Mark VanderHagen (NL) 4-6, 7-6 and 6-2 and Dan Gochenour and Dale Stewart (T) over Randy Hummer and Todd Allsop (NL) 6-2 and 6-2. Reserve matches played saw Tom Anderson (NL) over Tim Moore (T) 10-8; Todd Slabough (T) over Ron Price (NL) 10-8 and Steve Gordon (NL) over Brad Lcmler (T) 10-8. The team at this point for North Liberty was 0-7. Tennis matches on September 23 had the visiting John Glenn Falcons in town who walked away with the victory 4-1. Results in the singles were Mark Michalski (G) defeated Jim Herter 6-2 and 7-5; Jeff Steele (G) beat Kriss High 6-4 and 6-2; while Jerry Johnson (G) defeated John Wilcox 6-4 and 6-2. In the doubles Dave Minter and Dale Merkel from Glenn defeated the team of Rekl Mcßride and Todd Allsop 6-1 and 6-2 while in the other doubles matches Dave Stooks and Dave Fenstermacher from Glenn were defeated by Randy Hummer and Mark VandcrHages by scores of 6-3 and 6-4.
NORTH LIBERTY TENNIS TEAM BEATEN The LaLumiere tennis team came out on top of the tennis matches with North Liberty 4-1 on September 29. The loss put the Shamrock record at 0-11. Chris Yates (L) over Kriss High 6-4, and 6-1 and Steve Yates (L) over Jim Herter 6-2 and 6-0 and Pat Hartnett topped John Wilcox 6-2 and 6-0. In the doubles Pat Kelihege and John Savoie for LaLumiere beat Todd Allsop and Rod Mcßride 6-0 and 6-2 in double but Randy Hummer and Mark VanderHagen beat Bob Marskc and Randy Smith (L) 6-3 and 6-2 for the lone Shamrock point. SHAMROCKS LOSE TO NEW PRAIRIE The North Liberty Shamrock cross country team lost to New Prairie 22-34 Thursday, September 30 in a Northern State Conference meet. Doug Fraser led the Cougars with a time of 13:29. North Liberty top finishers were Tim Lane, third. 14:26; Scott Griffey, fifth, 14:35; Kevin Liechty, sixth, 14:53; Phil Smith, ninth, 15:08 and Jeff Walker, 11th at 15:30.
