Mrs. Ruth Keck. of South Bend, was a Sundav dinner guest of Mrs. Mable Worster. Mr Carroll Wharton returned home Fridas from Memorial Hospital. South Bend, where he had been a patient for several weeks due to a broken leg and other injuries received in a fall while building his new home in North Liberty Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Shener.ian and Mr. and Mrs Inman Whitmer called on Mrs Vera Clark Sunday afternoon. Mr and Mrs. Michael Newcomer. ot LaPaz. are the parents of a daughter born on Monday. October 4, in Memorial Hospital. South Bend Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gall, of North Liberty, and Mr. and Mrs. Mels in New - comer. of LaPaz. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hagquist, of South Bend, called on Mr. and Mrs. Ros Reamschnyder on Monday. Mrs. Charles E. Whitmer is a surgical patient in the LaPorte Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sheneman and Cecil Harris, along with 40 other Senior Citizens, went by bus from South Bend to Charlestown. West Virginia, where they stayed at the Holiday Inn Friday and Saturdav nights. On Saturday a tour guide took them out into the Alcgheny Mountains where they enjoyed seeing many interesting sights and enjoyed dinner at the Po Farm Restaurant at Summerville. On the return trip they saw the new Civic and Science Building and toured the state capital. The trees were beautiful and they traveled over 1.000 miles. Bernice and Bernard Will, of Valparaiso, visited their cousin, Mrs. Esther Harman, on Tuesday. Mr. Floyd Whiteleather and daughter. Mrs. Clarrise Jackson and baby, of Evansville, were Saturday afternoon visitors. Mrs. Lillian Peterson. Mrs. Jennie Veiler and Mrs. Robert Holderread visited Mrs. Inez Harrington and Miss Anna Steele at the Haven Hubbard Home. New Carlisle. Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Roush spent Sunday evening with Mrs. Lulu Roush and Pearl. Mr. and Mrs. George Krueger were guests at a birthday dinner Sunday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Newland and children, in South Bend. a vacation trip through the northeastern states. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Szember. of Lake Worth, Florida, were guests several days this week of Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Snyder. Mrs. Szember is a niece of Mrs. Snyder. ON ANCILLA’S STUDENT SENATE Area students attending Ancilla College. Donaldson. Indiana, are on the student senate which held an organizational meeting with the election of officers. Chris Salyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Salyer, North Liberty. was elected vice-president. Chris is acquainted with the activities of the senate having served as freshman representative during her freshman year. Chris is an active member of the swing choir and the social club. She plans to continue her education at Concordia Lutheran College. River Forest. Illinois, after receiving her A.A. degree at Ancilla this coming May. She intends to major in elementary education and then to teach mainly in parochial schools. The secretary elected was Carol Wenzel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wenzel, route 3, Walkerton. Carol has helped in the planning of many activities sponsored by the Anctlla social club and has played roles in several of the plays put on at the college by the drama club. Recently Carol was chosen president of the latter organization. Upon graduation from Ancilla. Carol hopes to enroll at Purdue University and pursue a degree in forestry. At present she is working part-time at the Pizza Place and Restaurant. Koontz Lake. Other officers include Doug Cool, Plymouth, treasurer, and Sue Slemp, Plymouth, president.
