Lions To Attend White Sox Game Sunday, Sept. 26 The Walkerton Lions Club is sponsoring a bus trip to the White Sox vs Oakland A’s baseball game (in Sunday. September 26. The price is SIO.OO for the bus ride and ticket to the game. The bus will be loading at 9:45 a.m. and leave at 10:00 a.m. from the John Glenn High School. A NIGHT TO REMEMBER A night of music can be yours to remember on Thursday, September 23, 8:00 p.m., at the John Glenn auditorium. A benefit concert sponsored by the Mission Commission and the United Methodist Youth Fellowship of the Walkerton United Methodist Church will feature that night Sharon Klinedinst, soprano soloist, and Roger Kronk. cornetist, in a program of music ranging from classical to popular selections. Mark September 23 on your calendar! Tickets are available at the United Methodist Church, from members of the UMYF and other members of the church. Proceeds from the concert go to the Indiana Children’s Home. Set Benefit October 2 For Snodgrass Family There will be a benefit for Mr. and Mrs. James Snodgrass and daughter on Saturday evening. October 2, from 7:00 p.m. on at the Johnson Township Community Building. The Snodgrass family lost their mobile home and all furnishings recently by fire. Any donations of money, household necessities or canned goods will be welcome. JOHNSON TOWNSHIP REUNION SEPTEMBER 26 The 38th annual Johnson Township Reunion will be held on Sunday. September 26 at the Community Building. A pot luck dinner will be held at 12:30. Bring your own table service. All present and former residents of the township and teachers of former schools are welcome. If you have any pictures or momentos bring them. Come and enjoy the day. Effective December 31. 19"'’, Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home. Walkerton, will no longer provide such service. Ihe Board of Trustees of the Town of Walkerton, being con cerned. have authorized Mr. i.inder Pearish to organize a group of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s) to contact residents, pre sent several alternatives and re quest their ideas. The new ambulance would cost approximately S2O.(XX) and the cost of operation must also be provided. Junior Miss Pageant Set For November The Walkerton Jaycees are now working on the 1976-77 Walkerton Area Junior Miss Pageant which is set for Thursday. November 18 and Saturday. November 20 in the John Glenn High School auditiorium. The local pageant is part of a nationwide program to honor and reward the countries leading high school girls for achievement in scholastics, creative talents and community betterment. More than $70,000 in college scholarships, savings bonds and other rewards will be offered to local, state and national winners this year. A total of SSS.(XX) in scholarships, topped by a SIO,OOO prize to the 1976 America’s Junior Miss, will be awarded to the national pageant in Mobile, Alabama, in May. The local prizes consist of very generous scholarships as well as trophies and prizes. Local girls can enter the pageant by attending a tea to be held in the very near future. At the tea the entire pageant will be discussed in detail. Ihe Walkerton Jaycees will give awav more than S6OO in scholarships and prizes. The winner of the Walkerton Area Junior Miss Pageant will compete at Frankfort. Indiana, in the State Pageant in December tor the manv scholarships. awards and a chance to par ticipate in the National Pageant in Mobile. “Our Junior Miss will be more than just an attractive lady.” chairman Don Johnson said “Our winner will be determined on the basis ot scholarship achievement, character, youth fitness, poise, per sonalitv and creative abilities. Walkerton, will meet on Thursday, September 30 at 8 (X) p.m. in the Post Home. It is important and most urgent that all members attend this meeting. To be discussed at the meeting will be the issues of disposition of some Legion property, planx for improving the Post Home, the Third District meeting to be held in October and other related 'natters.
