Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sheneman received word Saturday night of the death of their daughter-in-law, Joy Sheneman. wife of Dennis Sheneman. of Whittier. California. She was killed in an automobile accident on the way home Friday evening from her job. Her funeral service was held Tuesday. September ’ in Fullerton. California. Mr and Mrs. Gene Patrick and daughter Tammy. flew to California on Sunday to be with her brother Dennis, for a few days and to attend the funeral of her sister-in-law . Joy. Mr. and Mrs. Morton R. Berger. Jr., have returned to their studies at the International School of Business Management in Glendale, Arizona, after spending a week with Mr. and Mrs. Max Steele. Mrs. Berger is the former Carol Steele. The North Liberty Harvey's Dime Store employees and their families enjoyed a nice Labor Day picnic at the old Sheneman Grove Monday. Many games were played and everyone had so much fun. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sheneman. Mr. and Mrs. George Krueger, Mr. and Mrs. Durwood Clark. present was Cleo Sheneman. Harry C. Davis, of 52794 U. S. 31 South Bend, who died August 27. was the North Liberty School principal from 1924 to 1927. He was remembered by some of the area people. Pastor and Mrs. Allen Balsley and family, of Pompano Beach. Florida, were called here due to the death of the former’s mother. Mrs. Homer Balsley. They will be returning to their home this week. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ulbrich and Mrs. Lulu Roush and Pearl visited Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Howell and children in Argos Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Wallace, of East Lansing. Michigan, are spending this week with her sister Mrs. Lillian Peterson and family. Mr. Elmer Feisenhiser and his sister Olive, of Riverdale, Illinois, were Sunday evening visitors of Mrs. Rachel Fullmer. They also called on Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Brantley. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gloyd, of San Jose, California, and Mrs. Ben Hagquist, of South Bend, called on Mrs. Nellie Smith last Wednesday. They also called on Mrs. Mabel Worster. Mr. and Mrs. George Carr and family were Sunday dinner guests of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Papai in Niles, Michigan.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Boggs, of South Bend. Mrs. Alma Dixon and Miss Hattie Tumbleson, of North Liberty, called on Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Platz Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Stump, of Garrett. Indiana, were recent visitors of Mrs. May Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Naragon. of Walkerton, were Sunday evening supper guests of Mrs. Vera Clark. Mr. Charles Vanderhagen and Mrs. Effie Hammaker spent Labor Day week end with her daughter and son-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Huff, at their cottage near Grovertown. Indiana. Other visitors during the week end were families of the Huffs and Mrs. Hammaker, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin King visited Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Leona Morgan, of South Bend. Mr. Robert Strope. of Mishawaka. and Mr. and Mrs. Al Poole, of Lagrange. Indiana, were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Strope. Pvt. Warren Zahn, of Ft. Bragg. North Carolina, spent several days with his mother. Mrs. Alice Zahn. Mrs. Edna Kane was a recent dinner guest of her son. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Kane, of Lakeville. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Poynter, of Kokomo. Indiana, spent Saturday with their fathers, Mr. Harvey Poynter and Mr. Cecil Worthington. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Riches, of Kirksville, Missouri, spent several days last week with her grandmother, Mrs. Kathryn Hevel. Sunday visitors of Mrs. Hevel were Mr. and Mrs. Don Hevel and Jean, of Grand Rapids. Michigan, Mrs. Gudates and Mr. George Busic, of South Bend.
