Fannfest 76 Schedule Os Activities Farmfest 76 promises to be the most outstanding agricultural exposition of the 20th century, comparable in importance to the great exhibitions of the 1800’s that are still being featured in history books. Certainly it will be the biggest ever, in size, attendance and the range and scope of its happenings. It will also be the richest in historical background and pagentry, scientific significance and entertainment. The event will be held September 13-19 at Lake Crystal, in southern Minnesota. MONDAY. Area Winners At Indiana State Fair Celia Jones, 62040 Willow Road, North Liberty, received a red ribbon in Division I of soil and water conservation. Jeff Martin, North Liberty, placed first in the flag race under 56 inches, combined junior and senior divisions, at the state fair 4-H horse and pony show. Russell Stull, North Liberty, placed first in the pole bending under 56 inches at the fair. Laurie Ann Martin, North Liberty, was third in the pleasure ponies, 46 inch and under combined junior and senior division. Sandra J. Wood, North Liberty, was sixth in the pole bending 56

Daniell Webb, route 7, Plymouth, was fifth in the costume class single entry, junior and senior division. John Hanson, North Liberty, received a blue ribbon in the model of an antique in the special Bicentennial classes at the state fair. Susan Manson received a blue ribbon, from North Liberty, with her craft from yesteryear in the special Bicentennial classes at the state fair. Michelle Allsop, North Liberty, blue ribbon for her United States birthday cake. POSTER RECEIVES HONORS Bicentennial poster made with cancelled stamps by Janice Betz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Betz, Indiana Street, Walkerton, was on display in the walkerton Post Office during the local celebration of the nations 200th birthday. During July 11-13 at the Indiana Rural Letters Carriers Convention held in Bloomington, it was entered in the cancelled stamp post contest where it placed first. It then was taken by Mr. and Mrs. William Rechtenbaugh, she is Indiana Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary vicepresident and he is County President of Plymouth, to the National Rural Letter Carriers Convention
held in Birmingham, Alabama, August 8-13. Posters of 104 juniors were judg ed in three age groups. In the middle age group, first went to a Minnesota junior, and Janice Betz received second and Charlie Long from Millersburg, Indiana, placed third. In 1870 the U.S. population was 38,558,371.
