The Plymouth Country Club is located on State Road 17, 3 miles west of Plymouth. WALKERTON TOWN BOARD NEWS A special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Town of Walkerton was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 14, by William T. Elkin, president. Other board members present were Gladys Prentis, Jack D. Tiede and Michael W. Corbett. The special meeting was called to again meet with the three township trustees and advisory boards of Polk. Lincoln and Johnson Townships for the purpose of drawing up a new fire protection contract. Township personnel present included Dean Anderson, trustee; Ted Daube, Jim Keeling and Lloyd Thomas, from Johnson Township. LaPorte County; Lloyd Stephenson.

trustee; and Ed Klopfenstein, from Lincoln Township, St. Joseph County; and Clark Dare, trustee, from Polk Township. The problem in the fire protection matter stems from the fact the Town of Walkerton has been paying the largest share of the annual costs and the new proposal presented at this meeting by the town was based on the cost of total assessed valuation. This method of allocation of costs would place a heavier burden on the townships than has been the case in the past as the Town of Walkerton has been paying approximately GO per cent of the total costs. It was stated by town attorney, Devere Goheen that the Indiana Code and BurnStatutes states that costs should be allocated according to total valuation when preparing a contract The old contract was drawn up almost 40 years ago.
