O-D Names New Athletic Director And BB Coach St; ^9 The Board of School Trustees of the Oregon-Davis School Corporation is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Rex Miller as the Athletic Director of the school, replacing Mr. James Black who has resigned to accept a position in another school. Miller, a native of Kingsford Heights, is a 1968 graduate of LaPorte High School, and a 1972 graduate of Purdue University. He is scheduled to receive his Masters Degree, also from Purdue, at the close of the summer term. For the past four years Miller has served as the Media Specialist of the Oregon-Davis Schools, and he will continue in this capacity as he

For three years he has directed the Intramural Sports Program at the high school and has been very active in assisting at athletic events, in announcing sports programs, and in helping to run various athletic activities. He has also been the Sponsor of the Lettermen’s Club. Miller and his wife, Brenda, reside in Hamlet. L) The Board also is happy to announce the appointment of Mr. Jamie Gill, of Kinghtstown, Indiana, as the Varsity Basketball Coach of the Oregon-Davis High School. Gill. 27 years of age, married and the father of a small daughter, is a native of Edinburg. Indiana, and a graduate of Edinburg High School, where he was a four sport man. earning 10 letters in basketball, football, track, and cross country. In high school he was named basketball's most valuable player, captain, all-conference, all-tourna-

ment, and all-sectional player, leading scorer and free throw champion. The new coach attended Vincennes University for two years and completed his B.S. at Indiana Uni-versity-Purdue University at Indianapolis, majoring in physical education and science. In college he earned six letters, four in basketball. one in track and one in cross country. He also received college honors by being named to the all-conference team, captain, and free throw champion. While at Vincennes University, Gill was a teammate of Bob McAdoo, presently playing with the Buffalo Braves of the N.B.A. Gill has held the positions of Junior Varsity Coach and Assistant Coach at IUPUI. He has also coached junior high basketball and has taught and supervised elementary physical education programs at Knightstown. Mr. and Mrs. Gill plan to move to the Oregon-Davis area soon so that he can begin to work on the high school summer baseball program. He has also been appointed the Varsity Track and Varsity Cross Country Coach at Oregon-Davis. North Liberty Mrs. Fern Irene Troche, of Bremen. was a dinner guest last Wednesday of Mrs. May Clark. Mrs. Donald Noel and children, of Goshen, were Monday dinner guests. Mrs. Esther Harman attended a baby shower for her granddaughter. Mrs. James Tylavsky, in South Bend Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Stump, of Garrett. Indiana, and Mrs. May Clark attended the Schroll reunion Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wolfe, in LaPorte. Mrs. Fred DeCoudrcs and Mrs. Edward Zywcak called on Mr. Charles Finch and Mr. Clint Morris at the Fountain View Nursing Home. LaPorte, on Sunday. Mrs. Flora Hough returned home after spending the past week with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Byland in Indianapolis.
