Mr. and Mrs. Philip C. Waldron Sr., Gemini Lane, Walkerton, will be honored on their 50th wedding anniversary by a family celebration on Saturday, June 12. Waldron and the former Virginia Doudna were married June 12, 1926 in South Bend. Waldron was a Studebaker employee for 38 years and retired from Chrysler Corporation in Lyons, Michigan in 1972. The Waldrons have a son, Philip Jr., and a daughter, Mrs. Roy DeSimone, both of Walkerton, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. MARRIED Kathryn S. Godwin and Jack Tiede, both of Walkerton, were united in marriage on May 21, in Knox, Indiana.

Initiation And Installation Os Officers Held On Thursday, June 3rd, Mrs. Charles Baker, Mrs. Lynn Kaser, Mrs. John South, and Miss Shannon Mahoney were initiated into Epsilon Chi chapter of Tri Kappa. Miss Laura Carter will be initiated at a later date. The services were held at the Walkerton United Presbyterian Church. After the initiation a dinner was served by the Women’s Association of the church. Bud vases of iris and stand-up butterflies in blues and purples decorated the

tables. Hostesses were Mrs. Ernest Brovoid, Mrs. William Elkin, Mrs. Glenn Jacob and Mrs. Lloyd Thomas. Following the dinner Mrs. Don Aschliman installed the 1976-77 chapter officers. They include Miss Linda Huhnke, president; Mrs. Leo Mahoney, vice-president; Mrs. Gene Brems, corresponding secretary; Mrs. DeWayne Pavey, recording secretary; Mrs. Robert Mercer, treasurer; and Mrs. Lee DeLand, assistant treasurer. Miss Huhnke presided over the meeting. A special guest. Mrs. John Mahoney was introduced. She is the president-elect of Zeta Upsilon chapter of Tri Kappa in Angola. Mrs. DcLand, chairwoman of the Fireplug Painting Contest, announced that only 4 or 5 plugs remained unpainted. She has volunteers to paint these plugs. Mrs. Elsie Elder was the grand prize winner. Mrs. Amos Hunt served as judge. Mrs. William Carter of the Scholarship Committee announced that Herald Hostetler 111 received the Marjorie Eiler Memorial Scholarship, and Jenny Moore received the Elizabeth Orcutt Special Scholarship. Miss Huhnke announced that Paul Hershberger and Mary Huffstetter received the Tri Kappa Citizenship awards at Harold C. Urey Middle School. The chapter voted to buy an enlarger for the Art and Graphic Arts Department of John Glenn High School. Money will be donated to a special fund at the Walkerton Nursing Home to help buy a film projector for the residents.
