MEMORIAL DAY — MAY 30
Memorial Day is one of the most popular holidays in the United States. Coming as it does, in the Spring of the year, the weather is usually good, the days are warm, the roads clear, and the flowers in bloom. It is a pleasant time for traveling. And because of the nature of the holiday — originally established on May 30. 1868. in honor of soldiers who died in the War Between the States, and later expanded to include those who died for their country in all wars — Memorial Dav has become not only an occasion to honor our patriot dead, but also a day to visit and decorate the graves of deceased loved ones and. for many, a traditional day for an annual family reunion. Because of all these things, the Memorial Day week end is a time when thousands upon thousands of Scholarships And Awards Given At John Glenn Hoosier State scholarship recipients announced at John Glenn High School's commencement Sunday.
