The children of Mr. and Mrs. Orris T. Farrar, route 2. Walkerton. are hosting an open house in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, May 9 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Walkerton Community Building. The Farrars were married on March 15, 1926, in Elkhart, by Rev. Fribley. They have lived 44 years at their route 2. Walkerton address. Mr. Farrar is a retired farmer. They have two children. Mrs. Ann Reed, of Sumava Resorts, Indiana, and Robert, of Walkerton. They also have eight grandchildren. Friends and relatives are invited. No invitations will be sent. Speedway Opens for Practice
The powerful, open-wheel, open-cockpit race cars of the United States Auto Club's championship division will begin daily practice sessions at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Saturday in preparation for the 60th annual “500" on May 30 Although some veterans may delay their appearance on the track for a day or two, several of them have indicated they are ready for the official opening at 11 o’clock and they probably will be joined by a few of the “rookies" anxious to get started on the required 100-milc famil larization runs at a speed of 160 miles an hour. Among the newcomers this year, without previous experience* at Indianapolis, is the first woman driver ever entered in the famous International event here She is Janet Guthrie of New York, N.Y.
