Dr. Frash was elected trustee, and at the axxards banquet. Dr. Stuller was presented a “Distinguished Service to Optometry” award for his work as head of the lOA’s department of legal affairs. Dr. Frash with Dr. Donald C. Richter, of Lawrenceburg, directed the research and publication of the lOA’s Preschool Vision Screening Manual, a guide to establishing community-wide visual examination programs for preschool-aged children. Spanish Degree Approved For IUSB The Indiana Commission for High Education has approved a bachelor of arts degree program in Spanish for Indiana University at South Bend. The program has been added to existing degree programs in French and German offered through lUSB's department of foreign languages. Dr. Rogelio A. de la Tone, department chairman, said the approval means that IUSB students can meet all the requirements for the bachelor’s degree with a major in Spanish on the South Bend campus. "It opens new opportunities for study to our regular students, as well as to area residents interested in obtaining an undergraduate degree in Spanish locally.” he said. The new degree is in addition to more than two dozen baccalaureate degree programs available at IUSB in the arts and sciences, business and economics, education, music, and public and environmental affairs. Sub-baccalaureate and graduate programs in various fields arc also offered on the South Bend campus.

COUNTY LINE CLUB MEETS Fourteen County Line Club members gathered at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Walsh Monday evening, April 20. Helen Smith was assisting hostess. Mrs. Loretta Kearcher took over her duties as the new president. The birthday song rang out for Geneva Creech. Door prizes went to Virginia Waldron, Clara Mae Kronk and Mrs. Kearcher. Lucky ladies who found special identifications on the cut out pictures of flowers that were pinned on the members as they arrived were Weltha Burnside. Goldie Skinner and Mrs. Kearcher. Mrs. Walsh surprised everyone with a very attractive decorative flower pot she had done herself. Our May meeting will be held at the home of Helen Pogodzinski. Delicious refreshments were served after games and neighborly visiting was enjoyed.
On Monday Mr. and Mrs. Myron Mullet took a van load of local Presbyterian ladies to Lafayette. Indiana, to a Spring Presbyterial meeting at Central Presbyterian Church. The following group made the trip. Mrs. Leah Pickavet, Mrs. Helen LaFeber, Mrs. Fayette Dunn. Mrs. Ida Mae Watkins. Mrs. Martha Dipert. Mrs. Evelyn Edinger and Mrs. Helen Bowman. After the meeting the ladies tixik a tour of the printing plant of Mr Dennis Dunn, fhey arrived home at 10:00 p.m. tired but a happx bunch.
