the Presbyterian Church the Woman's Community Club of Walkerton met for a business session at the Community Building. Mrs. Leonard Beaty, president, opened the meeting with these words — spring and Easter are here again bringing their meaning of life and hope. And in this hope we will rejoice and be glad. Mrs. Selma Pry, social service chairman, reported she would deliver the Easter basket favors to the RN Nursing Home patients in Teegarden Saturday. Several club shut-ins and nursing home residents were remembered with Easter greetings as told by Mrs. Roy Newell, sunshine chairman. Jewelry and napkins continue to be offered by the ways and means committee. Chairman, Mrs. Carl Stanley, reported this a most successful project. Goodwill Industries. according to Mrs. William Michalski, chairman, have received II bags and 10 barrels of gixxis
from club members this past month. The club voted to be represented in the Souvenir Book which is being prepared by one of the Greater Walkerton Area Bicentennial Committees. Mrs. Ralph Lichtenbarger. safety chairman, in her lesson “Steps to ladder safety." said it was most important the ladder used be sturdy. have reliable support, secure rungs and be properly placed. She cautioned one should never stand on top of the ladder. A letter from Mrs. Carroll E. Miller, prersident of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, calling attention to an enclosed “Public Notice." was read. This notice was an invitation to clubs to be present at Independence Hall. Philadelphia. Pennsylvania, on July 4th. Wb. at 4:00 p.m. for an historical GFWC ceremony. At this date and time the original moulds of the Official GFWC Bicentennial Plates will be publicly destroyed, thereby creating a limited edition of these Commemorative Plates. Mrs. Miller recently presented to Mrs. Gerald Ford, out nation's First Lady, the fourth and final plate in the series. With the acceptance of the plates by Mrs. Ford and Mrs. Nixon (1973-74). the GFWC Bicentennial tribute is now a part of the White House collection. Mrs. William Hughes was elected to membership. Birthday greetings were sung to Mrs. Floyd Bowles and Mrs. Carl Stanley. The group was pleasantly surprised with tea and cakes served by Mrs. Beaty. The next meeting at 12:30 p.m. Friday. May 7. will precede the May Fellowship Lea to be held at the First United Presbyterian Church at 1:30 p.m. Named to the auditing committee were Mrs. Wilder Burnside. Mrs. William Michalski and Mrs. Thomas Walsh. UMW Os North Liberty Guest Night April 27 Lhe North Liberty United Metho dist Women will have their annual Guest Night to be held on I uesday. April 2" beginning with a dessert at 7:30 p.m , in the church dining rooms. The Evening Circle will be in charge of the refreshments. Mrs. William Hartman will have devotions. lhe high school chorus will provide music and the highlight of the evening will be the Rev. and Mrs. George Phillips of “Teens.
