Mr. and Mrs. Steve Clark, of LaPorte, were Sunday evening guests of his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Clark. Misses Mary Lynne and Jill Epperson, of East Gary, are spending their spring vacation here with their grandmother, Mrs. Esther Kaufman. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Walz returned home from, several weeks vacation in Bradenton, Florida. While there they saw numerous people from Walkerton who are spending the winter there. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Meyers, of Koontz Lake, were her mother and brother, Mrs. Gertrude Stevens and Mr. Howard Stevens, of Culver. Another guest was Miss Cynthia Jones, of Hyde Park, Mass., a granddaughter of Mrs. Stevens. Mr. and Mrs. William Lucius, of Tiffin, Ohio, were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Gerber and family. They were also present for the wedding of Miss Rosalie Gerber and Bryon Gerhart in the First Presbyterian Church on Sunday. Robert L. Palmer, route 5, was initiated into the spring class of Phi Beta Kappa, scholastic honor society in the arts and sciences at Indiana University, Blooming, ton. Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest Greek letter society in existence, dating back to 1776. Elec, tion to the society is one of the highest honors for academic performance that can be achieved by undergraduate students.

On Thursday of last week, Mr. D. W. Metzger, of Kewanna; Mrs. Ruth Hughes, of South Bend; and Mrs. Anna Allen, of Winamac; were guests of Mrs. Bertha Urbin. Mis. Gale Sherland had the misfortune of falling down a flight of stairs on Saturday in her home and she is now taking her vacation in the Osteopathic Hospital in South Bend for ap. proximately ten days. Mrs. Richard Anderson, Jr., took her mother, Mis. Beulah Price, to Wheat!iled. Indiana, on Monday to spend some time with Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Risner and family. Mr. and Mrs. Alva Ward and daughter, of Le.ters Ford, were here on Wednesday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rensberger. Other visitors through the day were Mrs. Cora Betz and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Rensberger, "of LaPorte. Mrs. Lynn Stull reports her mother. Mrs. Hertert Holsinger, of Terre Haute, is in the St. Eli. zabeth Hospital in that city due to a tall wh.ch left her with three broken bones in her foot. Sunday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Pfeiffer, of Koontz Lake, were Mr. and Mrs. Evar Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. William Dickson, Mr. and Mrs. John Guttman, Mrs. Bertha Urbin and Mrs. Dorothy Walsh. Mr. and Mrs. William Dickson, of Koontz Lake, were in Scherers, ville, 111., on Saturday to attend a dinner party for 12 in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Lemmons in the Scherersville Wood complex. The confirmation service held in the Tracy Lutheran Church on Sunday was followed with a family dinner for Miss Connie Daute, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Daube. Other guests were Mr and Mrs. Charles Daube, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Daube and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Daube and son and Mr. and MrA James Daube, of Hamlet. On Sunday, March 23, a dinner was held in honor of J. "Barney" Barnhart s 78th birthday and also of a daughter, Theresa Pevitts, with the following guests present. The Senior Citizens of LaPaz will entertain Thursday, March and Plymouth Harmonica Group 27, at 7:00 p.m. PU SCHOOL BOARD NEWS Contracts were awarded on March 18 at the PIJ School Board meeting for the purchase of two school bus bodies and chassis to Mahoney.Mann Chev.-Olds Co., Inc., Walkerton, with its bid of $12,821.18 for two chassis. Lee Supply, of Terre Haute, was awarded the body contract with a bid of $12,750 for two. In other action, the Municipal Finance Corporation, a private holding company of South Bend, was selected to finance construction of the proposed Walkerton elementary school addition.
