Plymouth, died March 7 at Millers Merry Manor, Plyinoutn. after an illness of 30 days. A resi<!ent of the Plymouth Community for 60 years, she was horn June 13. 1888. at Bremen, t Jonn and Margaret Rhoades Esunger. Mr.'. Mattern was- mar. ned February 26. 1913 to William Mattern, who preceded her in death in July of 1950. Funeral serv. ices were held at Van Nuys, California with interment in the Fair. Haven Memorial Park, Orange, California. Mr McGill had been coming to Koontz Lake since early childhood when his parents, Andrew and Cora McGill, of Chicago, built a cottage on the south side of Koontz Lake. Robert moved to California in 1956, working for the General Telephone Company as senior staff engineer in Banta Monica. He is survived ty his wife. Virginia, a son, Rob- rt Scott McGill, and his mother, Mr|. Cora McGill. Mr. Harold Durkee, of Koontz Lake, is an uncle to the deceased. Mrs. Cora McGill’s address is 245 North Flower Street, Orange, Californ.a 92668. W. K. Dankert, Sr. William Robert Dankert. Sr., 67. 2003 E. 500 South. LaPorte, died at 3:20 p.m. March 5, at the LaPorte Hospital after a lengthy - illness. He was bom April 11. 1907, in LaPorte County to Char, les and Ella Pagel Dankert and lived in LaPorte one year, going there from Starke County. Mr. Dankert was a retired farmer. He was married November 27, 1930. in North Liberty, to Helen Barthel, who survives. He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Catholic Church, Kingsford Heights, and the Farm Bureau of LaPorte County. Surviving with his wife are five children, William Dankert, Jr., Union Mills; Charles T. Dankert, LaPorte; Mrs. Herbert Nelson. LaPorte; Mrs. Howard B-rg, Hamlet; and Mrs. Thomas Har. row. LePorte; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild: and two brothers, Lloyd Dankert. of Walkerton: and Leo Dankert, of Union ill.ls. Services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Chester Zurawiec. officiating. Burial was at Pine Lake Cemetery. LaPorte. Mrs. Richard H Petterson Mrs. Lorraine D. Peterson, 51, of 56876 Oak Road, died at 3;40 a.m March 5 in Memorial Hosp., tai after a short illness. i LaVille Invitallonal wrestling Tournament last Saturday at La. Ville School. Compiling a total o 130 points, the team had five wrestlers who were champions in their respective weight classes. The first place finishers were Ronald Shortt, 80 pound weight class; Bob Armentrout, 90 pound; Eric Carlson, 125 pound; Doug Gilkerson, 155 pound; and Rhondo Riniger, 165 pound class. The other wrestlers who helped score points for Urey were Mike Shortt, John Linback, Len Carlson, Ed Bogard. Kevin Gaw. Mike Foster, David Reed, Doug Ecker, Mike Shenenberger, Fred Chandonia and Norman Barden. This was the first wrestling (•Tlanipion.'hip for Urey Middle School as well as for any PL J School Corporation school. Coach Jerry Fleischer and co-captains Allen Bogard and Eric Carlson presented the team trophy to pnn. cipal Richard Kickbush at an all. school pep session on Monday. The entire Urey Wrestling Team of 33 boys was recognized for outrlanding feat. Wrestling is a sport that has come a long way in Walkerton and which has even a brighter future on the near horizxm.
