Esther Jordan Mrs. Esther Jordan, 69, formerly of South Bend, who was living with her son, Walter, near Elkhart, died at 7:00 p.m. Sun. day in St. Joseph H >spital after an extended illness. She was born on March 29. 1905. in New Brighton, Pa. Surviving are five sons; three daughters including Mrs. J^vce Morrison, of North Liberty; 33 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a broth, er and a sister. Services were at 3:00 pm Wei. nsday in the Guisinger Colonial Chapel with burial in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Mrs. Edward J. Chrobot Mrs. Hattie Chrobot, 59. route 5, box 424, Etiward^.urg, formerly of New Carlisle and North Liberty, died at 3:00 a.m. Sunday in Memorial Hospital. South Bend. She was bom June 7, 1915 in Tei re Coupe as Hattie Mroczkiewicz and she was married to Edward J. Chrobot. who survives, along with a son; five brothers, including Delbert Mrocxkiewicz; of North Liberty; three sisters, including Mrs. Rose Ann Geddes,
North Liberty. Services were at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Holy Family Catholic Church and burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Ernest L. Adkins Erne't L. Adkins, 81, of route 4, LaPorte, died at 12:45 p.m, Monday in the Walkerton Nursing Home after an extended illness. Mr. Adkins was a retired fa/mdr and ironworker. Bom November 19, 1892, in Clinton, Tennessee, he had lived most of his life in the LaPorte County area: On June 24. 1941, he was ! married to Mildred Stover, who died August 20, 1972. Surviving , are four nephews, Roger Adkins, of Goodrich. Michigan; J. Rich. । ard Verkier, James Verkier and Daniel Awald, all of Walkerton; and two nieces, Mrs. Edward Stet. , zen, of Oakridge, Tenn.: and Mrs. Janet Johnson, of LaSalle, 111. Services were at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton. Rev. Clyde D. Wake, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Walk, erton, officiated. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. He was a World War I veteran and a member of World War I Barracks Indiana at LaPorte, and the LaPorte County Farm Bureau Co-operative. HOMEMAKERS CLUB MEETS The Lincoln Township Exten. sion Homemakers Chib met September 3 for their monthly meeting with 28 members present. The meeting was opened by president Mrs. Bertha Daube leading the group with the pledge of allegiance and the chib creed. The song of the month, "School Days was also sung. The birthday song was sung to Mrs. Weltha Burnside, Mrs. Marie Stahly, Mrs. Minnie Mikesell, Mrs. Elizabeth Hess and Mrs. Clara Kesl with M.rs. Lois Sher, land at the p.ano. Roll call was an-wered by the members as to where they first went to school. A safety report by Mrs. Nellie Smith on school time again was given telling of the many different things to watch for such as children on bicycles, school busses and many students driving to school. Mrs. Mamie Hahn read several poems by Riley, one of Indiana's poets. The meeting ended by reading of the club collect.
