Jerry Franks To Appear In No. Liberty Jerry Franks will be at the First Baptist Churcii, 407 W. Elm, North Liberty. Indiana, Sun. day, September 8, to present a program of Gospel music. At the 9:30 a.m. Sundas School hour he will teach a combined class including 6th graders up through adults, on the general subject of what is acceptable Gospel music. He will include the subject of whether or not modern rock music is a valid vehicle for the Gospel message. He will also play for the 10:30 a.m. worship serv. ice. In the evening 7:30 p.m. preaching service he again will present a program of Gospel mu. SiC. Jerry Franks has combined a career of professional musician, private instructor, and music ed. ucator at the college level. In great demand nationally, he per. forms on radio and television. irepeatedly guest soloist for Dodger Stadium pre-game shows and the National Anthem, at Disney, land, and the Midwest National Band Clinic. He has been chosen to appear in programs with such political figures as Governor Ronald Reagan, Senator Mark Hatfield and Dr. Walter Judd. His rec-ent record albums include

“Trumpet Conversations” and “Dimensions in Brass.” He is sea. tured in the 1970 edition of the publication “Outstanding Educators of America.’ Smce 1967, Mr. rranns has been artist.in.residence and is currently Director of Instrumental Music and Bands and Assistant Profe-sor of Mus.c Educators, Grace College, Winona Lake, Indiana. Prior to this time he was for four years, instrumental instructor at the Albert Gallatin Schools, Masontown, Pennsylvania. In both clinic appearances and solo performances, Jerry Franks displays unusually fine technique complemented by excellent musi. cianship. MUSING HOME ACTIVITIES Saturday. August 24, we served 100 residents and family members at a Hawaiian Luau on our large patio which held a pool w.th gold fish, wind chimes, posters of Hawaii and hanging lanterns. Mr. Waldron grilled hamburgers and we had all kinds of good food including a huge watermelon filled with fresh fruit. Birthday guests received a gift and decorated hats. Everyone received a colored lei. We are indebted to Mr. and Mrs. Jim Reed fir loaning us all the lovely decorations. The Hawai. lan dancers had an auto accident on the way here so only one dancer came with her husband. but she was a show all by herself with beautiful costumes and very professional dancing. Tuesday, August 27, the ladies of tre North Liberty Church vis. ited for a Bible study and hymns. Thursday, August 29. 42 resi. dents and staff will go by bus to Camp Millhouse for an all day picnic. We are deeply indebted to Father Letko for use of the school bus and also for loaning us table- and chairs for the luau. Also thanks to Ray Thompson, owner of the Bargam Center, for driving the bus for us Thursday, September 5. we will have cur residents rummage sale whii h was p»-tponed because of the luau.
