The auction sale was very successful with the auction, eer Mis. Burnside doing a good job and many thanks from the members go to her. Prizes were won by many holding the lucky numbers. HOU \RD LIPKE NEW REFI (.E MANAGER Howard Allen Lipke. son of Mr. and Mrs. Theeodore Lipke, Walkerton, has been named man. ager of the Mark Twain National Wildlife Refuge in Davenport, lowa, to St. Louis. The promo, tion became effective June 17. The Mark Twain Wildlife RtTuge is a 35,000 acre haven for birds and animals stretching from Davenport to St. Louis. It was established in 1958 and consists of 12 seperate management units scattered along 250 miles of the Mississippi River and ISO miles of the Illinois River. Lipke has nearly 11 years of service with the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service. He began in July. 1963. and was the assistant manager of the big U S. Fish and Wildlife Service Refuge in northern California for the last two years, the Klamath Basin Refuge at Tulelake, California. A native of Evergreen Park. Illinois, Lipke attended Ball State University, Muncie, and received a B.S degree in wildlife manage, ment from the University of Mon. tana in 1963.
