Announce Alumni Banquet Plans Fer Walkerton The Walkerton High School Alumni Banquet will be held >n Friday. May 31, at the Swan Lake Golf Academy Club House with the classes of 1924 and 1919 to be honored. Tickets for the dinner and dance are $5.00 per person. Deadline for reservations is set for May 24. RECEIVES DEGREE Phyllis Wilson, daughter of Mrs. Eva A Hall, received her Masters of Arts Degree in Education Administration from the University of Notre Dame on May 19. She previously graduated from North Lib ;ty H.gh School and has attended undergraduate schools in Indiana, Switzerland, Mexico and California. Mrs. Wilson will return to her teaching assignment in Santa Cla. ra, California, m the fall, BAKE SALE The North Liberty Community Building will be having their bake sale on Saturday. Wilson, former Navy officer and soloist with the Indiana Singers of Indiana University. Also the Singing Thrushes, a husband and wife team, from Butler, will be present. st. Peter's Lutheran Church, Jo. liet, Illinois, was the setting of the candlelight ceremony of Miss Helen Marie Krauss and Daniel Eugene Charles on Saturday, May 11. A reception followed m the church hall. Reverend Martin Frenk officiated with Russ Wunderlick as soloist. The rainbow color theme of blue, yellow’ and green prevailed. Miss Dd orah Krauss, sister of the br.de. was maid of honor with Jeannie Carpenter, of Joliet, as bridesmaid and Amy Stanton, of Mishaw’aka, flower girl. The at. tendants carried baskets of dais, ies to match the colors of their gowns w.th white lace gloves and matching wide brim hats. Serving as best man was Lar. ry R. Charles, brother of the groom, with Scott Stanton, cous. in of the groom, as groomsman and Rusty Carpenter, ring bearer. The usher was Albert Krauss, brother of the bride. The bride's gown was made of chantilly lace over white satin and featured a full skirt with long lace sleeves. Mr. and Mrs Albert C Krauss, of 1603 Valley View Place, Joliet, 111., are the parents of the bride. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs Henry R. Charles, cf Walkerton. The bride is a graduate, of Jo. liet East High School and the groom is a Walkerton High School graduate and a South Rend College of Commerce graduate. After a trip to Florida the cou. pie will reside at 109 Towncrest Drive. New Lenax, Illinois. ST. PATRICK WOMEN’S CLUB TO SPONSOR THEATRE TRIP St Patricks Women’s Club of Walkerton will sponsor their an. nual trip to a summer stock theatre on Wednesday, June 19 The group will dine at the Warsaw Wagon Wheel Restaurant at 6:30 p.m. and see the play. “No. No Nanette" at 8:30 pm Tran'-, portation is free and the bus will depart the school hall at 5:00 p.m. Mra. Bruce Dayhuff To Speak At Lions Meeting The Walkerton Lions Club will meet on Tuesday evening. May 28. at 7:00 p.m. for a dinner meet.ng at Mr. Smorgasbord, in LaPorte. Bruce Dayhuff, a member of the North Carolina State National Champion basketball team will be present to speak and answer questions concerning his experience as a member of the X;|icnal Champion team. Lion members are urged to bring their wives and sons and daughters and guests to this meeting. Members should contact their calling committee chairman to turn in their reservations by Sunday, May 26. The Walkerton Club is presently selling mint candy with the proceeds to go towards Cancer Control. NEW P-L-J PTO TO MEET TONIGHT The newly reorganized P-L-J PTO will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thuisday. May 23, in the John Glenn High School library. A panel comprised of school officials and concerned citizens will discuss key questions regarding the P-U School system. Those attending will have the opport un. ity to ask questions from the floor. John Shields, co-vice-chairman of PTO. will serve as moderator The panel will include superin. tendent of schools, principals, par. ents, teacher, school bus driver, school board member and a recent John Glenn graduate. Sume 60 concerned citizens re. cently attended an organizational meeting and elected the following officers for 1974-75: Mr. and Mrs. Wyman Hochstetler, co-chairper-sons; Mr and Mrs. John Shields, co-vice-chairpersons; Mrs. Gene Hardesty, secretary: and .Mrs. Carl Steinke, treasurer Student and teacher representatives to be announced later, will be added to the executive board. Mrs Steinke, outgoing PTO president, welcomed those attending and introduced Roc Richardson. who explained the need for a concerned citizens’ group Ri hardson stated that several area residents had attended recent Pl J school hoard mettings and hit that the community should be better infornnii about its school system.
