LANCERS ROMS SHAMROCKS IN SEASON FINALE The LaVille Lancers invaded N< rth Liberty Friday night for the final 1973-74 season 1 allgame and really swked it to the host Shmir aks to wrap up the Northern State Conference baskeball title and win their 16th game of the season aga.nst 5 losses For th*- Shamrocks it was their 16th lo s in 20 games and 14th conse< utive. They finished last in conference pl iy with an 0-5 while the Lancers were perfect with 5-0. The Lancers apparently were in search of offense as coach Steve Longfellow left h.s starters in for nr st of the game. Despite the 16 w.ns they have not been a big sc ring team and heading int > sectional play he must have want, ed that offensive momentum. On the other hand, the Shamrocks got nothing consistent going, playing catch-up ball after the first few minutes. LaVille moved to a good 21-13 firs* period lead and by the main intermiss.on moved to a big 44-27 margin. There was no contest in the final 1G minutes as th? balanced and free scoring attack by LiVil’e just kept pouring it on. By the end of three it was 66-38 and a 23 point final stanza just made it worse. The Lancers consistently spread their points around as 21 was their smallest quarter pro. duction and 23 the.r largest. All five starters were in double fig. ures with Nolen’s 24 leading the way with Magnuson. the lowest, hitting 12. Kuicsar had 18 and Sauer and Pajxzynski 14 each as their bench only clipped in seven. Gensingen topi**i the Shamrocks with 17 and no other Shamrock managed double figures in this one.
