Mrs. Glen Walz returned home on Wednesday of last week after a three day stay at Park Forest, 111., with Mr. and Mrs. Ted Wolfe and sons. Mrs. Irene Jones, of Michigan City, and Mrs. Bud Hunt, went to Lafayette on Saturday to spend the day with their mother, Mrs. Viola Emerson, who is iU. Mr. and Mrs. Scylar Arney, of Bowling Green, Indiana, were here for a week to visit with their children, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lowry and family and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Weigand and family and Mr. and Mrs. Phi] Brant. Mrs. John Gaiab. 702 Monroe Street, planned a surprise tilthday for h r husband on his birthday, Sunday, October 21 in their home. Thirty-five relatives and fiiends came at noon time with well filled baskets of food. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Eugen? Garab, <f Peotone. Ill.: Mi. and Mrs. Mike McGinley, of Downers Grove. Ill.; Mr. and Mi<. Dean Riscndahl. of Aurora. Ill.; Mr and Mrs. Billy Hostetler and daughters and Butch Smith, of Fish Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Ijimar Garab and family, of South Bend; Mis. Catherine Garab Hostetler and children of Walkerton; and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Spinsky, of Lansing, Mich. Callers during the day were neighbors. Mr and M.s. Newton Williams and Mrs. Jenny Spinsky and Mrs Hazel DineLU, of South Bend. Miss Vickie Hostetler, Fish Lake, dropped in to wish her grandfather happy birthday.

Mrs. Joseph Eckstein housekeeper for the ti< liday Inn. Laporte, who lives at route 1, Walkerton, has been named one of the top 100 hou> keepers within the inti rnaticnal H liday Inn system. The announcement was made on October 17 during the 18th annual Holiday Inn World Conferi nee in Rivermi nt. The award was based on. quarterly inspection ratings, guest relations, efficiency and responsibility at each Inn. Mr. and M.S. Lynn Stull and family were in Terre Haute over the week end to visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Holsinger. Their daughter visited her friend Becky Weber in Terr? Haute, and went with the Webers to see the sights at Rockville. Thus was th? last week of the fall festival and a hugh crowd was present to enjoy th? affair. Thomas Eckhoff came home the first of this week after a week in the I>iPorte Hospital as a midical patient.

The annual meeting of the election of officers for the Conservation Club at Koontz Lake will be held on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Charles Daube returned home last week from Caylor-Nic-hols Clinic in Bluffton, Indiana, where he had surgery and is reported as doing satisfactory. Mrs. Agnes Bostrom celebrated her 75th birthday on Thursday, October 18 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Palmer, at Koontz Lake. Mrs. William Dickson, of Koontz Lake, entertained 12 ladies in her home last Wednesday afternoon with a dessert luncheon a 1:00 p.m. and the afternoon was spent playing bridge and visiting. The party was given for several of the guests who are planning to leave for the sunny south for the winter. Mrs. L. F. Wood, Kevin and Tracy were here for two days last week from Coalgate, Oklahoma to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Baker and family. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Spinsky. of Lansing, Michigan, returned from a week vacation on Saturday. c< ming from California.
