Mr. and Mrs. Everett Baker were in South Bend on Saturday afternoon to attend the w'edding of her neice. Sarah Beth Miller. Mrs. Arthur Michalski and children, Kathy. Tommy and Billy. of Baton Rouge, La., spent most of the month of August with Mr. and Mrs. William Michalski. at Koontz Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Schappert and their four children, Laura, Susan. David and Derek, of Grayslake. Illinois, enjoyed a week vacation at the Koontz Lake home of Mrs Schappert’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Brehm. Mis. Howard Barnhart and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Morgan of Nevada. Ohio, spent three days here with Mrs. Barnhart's mother, Mrs. Nellie Stickley. They came to attend the Stickley reunion which was held on Sunday in the Johnson Township Club House with about 75 in attendance Mr. and Mrs. William Ross, of Mesa, Arizona, were at Koontz Lake for 10 days staying with Mrs. E. M. Bregi and her sister, Edna Lipke. Mrs. De Wayne Pavey and son Wesley were in Law-renceburg, Indiana, Thursday and Friday of last week to visit her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs Fi’ed Schmidt. While there they went to Lexington. Kentucky, to see the famous horse farms and barns. Freddie and Jennifer Schmidt returned with them and are spending a w’eek with the Paveys. Mrs. Alice Barney entertained at dinner on Wednesday of last week in honor of her grand nephew, Terry Whalen, who has been playing in the Jerusalem Symphony for the last two years in Jerusalem, Israel. After three weeks in the states, he will return to Jerusalem. Other guests were Terry’s mother, Mrs. Beverly Nestedy, of Lawton, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Miller, of Fayette, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wright and son James and daughter Nancy, of Linwood, N. J., and Mr. and Mrs. Rhea Wright of Walkerton.

Mr. and Mrs Harold Rensberger Mrs. Ernest Brovoid was hostess for a luncheon on Thursday in her home for Mr. and Mrs. William Ross, of Arizona, Mrs. Viola Bregi and Mrs. Edna Lipke. Mr. and Mrs. Jake Powell, of Williamsport. Pa, and daughter Jane, have been in the Walkerton area the past few days visiting with many of their friends. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Awald and Dick were in Franklin Park, Illinois, on Monday, to attend the funeral services of Mrs. Awald’s brother-in-law, Dr. George Cox, who died suddenly on Friday in New Port Richey, Florida. Shelly Kaser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Lynn Kaser, 120 Sham, rock St., Walkerton, received a blue ribbon on her Division I apron at the Indiana State Fair. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Lung, of Riverview, Florida, former Walkerton residents, are here for several weeks stay with Mr. and Mrs. Don Wolfenbarger at Koontz Lake. Mr. and Mrs. James Minter and family, of Rensselaer, were here Friday and Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Minter and family. Mr. and Mrs. Ned Irish, of Brcbeck, Pa., were here last week visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie J. Ward, Koontz Lake. One hundred guests were here on Sunday to enjoy the Newland reunion which was held at the Walkerton Community Building. The president,. John Newland served as host and assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Newland and Mrs. Bonnie Smith. The oldest members present were Mrs. Rosa Newdand, of LaPorte, and Mrs. Kate Newland, of Kouts, who are both 84 years old. The. oldest man present was Lester Sanders, Alger, Ohio, who was 83. Don and Jean Newland, of Walkerton, had the largest family and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Sanders, of Alger, Ohio, had the honor of being married for 60 years. Mr and Mrs. Harry Newland were here from Clearwater, Florida, and had come the longest distance. Danielle Warner was the youngest at three months. Next year’s reunion will be held at the same place with Mrs. Betty Warner, of LaPorte. as hostess. Janet, Julie and Jim Ryan spent several days last week with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Burch. Koontz Lake. Capt. Edward A. BoWmar, of route 3, and Ale Jack Casteel, 505 Van Buren St., Walkerton, have returned from two weeks at Volk Field, Wisconsin, where they were at the Air Force Reservists summer training camp. Mr anti Mi< Eugene Ker. chaert were in Elkhart on Sunday to help their granddaughter, Shelly Smith, celebrate her birth, day in the home of her grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. Harold Williams. Shelly is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith, Bourbon. Miss Elizabeth Guttman, Wakarusa, granddaughter of Mr and Mrs. John Guttman and Mrs. Bertha Urbm, Walkerton, received a blue ribbon at the Indiana State Fair with her personality poster in division II and above. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson and son were in Bippus, Indiana, to attend the wedding of their son and brother, Walter (Wally) Johnson to Paula Sue Lauer, at St. John’s United Church of Christ. The couple w’rote the impressive ceremony. Paula is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lauer, of Bippus. On Saturday afternoon some of the local motorcyclists got together and rode to the U.S 30 Dragstrip at Valparaiso to attend the second annual all motorcycle championship drags. Those attending were Bryan Pugsley, Les Cable, Karen Wardman, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Schultz, all of Walkerton; Mr. and Mrs. Ron Kinas, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hiatt, Mr. and Mrs. Don Schieber, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Lappin and Mr. and Mrs. Colonel Bennett, of North Liberty; Mr. and Mrs Roger Thomas, of Knox; and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Sturgell and James Thomas, of North Judson.

Table favors were made by Florence Nyberg and were small champagne glasses covered with colored net and ribbon tied with lily of the valley and filled with colored mints.
