Bowman are home after a three week vacation to the northwest on Amtrak via Spokane where they visited their son Ron and his wife and daughter. From there they went by bus to Vancouver, B. C., and then down the scenic coastal drive to San Francisco. Amtrak took them to Denver where they visited with their daughter, Bob. bu- and her husband and then on home to the green of the midwest.

Mrs. Roy Baugher Sr. is a sur. gical patient in St. Joseph Hospital. South Bend. Week end guests of Rev. and Mrs. Robert Bowman were his sister and her husband. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Orzells, of Johnstown, Pa. Monday visitors of the Bowmans were Mr. and Mrs. W. Case and Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Keene, of Lancaster, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. John Vandall, Mr. and Mr.-. Melvin Fitzgerald. Bob and Michael, were in Omaha. Nebraska and Council Bluffs, lowa, July 25-29 to attend the wedding of David Fitzgerald and Miss Judy Tysor, on July 28. Friday evening the children of Mi. and Mrs. Melvin Fitzgerald surprised their parents with a 25th wedding anniversary cake. Mr. and Mrs. Walter LaFeber and Scott and Susan, of Ithaca. New York, are here for a two week vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph LaFeber. Mrs. Fayette Dunn entertained with a family get together for her brother, Foster Bessler, of Anaheim, California, who has spent a week here with her. Her guests were Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Dunn and family, of Lafayette, Pete Dunn, of Goshen. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gore and family, of Crete, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rook, of Riverdale, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Dunnick. of South Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kenaey. Judy Jane, of South Bend, and Mr. and Mrs. Holton Holland, of Fort] Wayne.

Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Stahly and Susan, of Jacksonville, Fla., are vacationing here for a couple of weeks with his mother, Mrs. Marie Stahly, and her mother, Mrs. Elsie Johnson, and other friends and relatives around the area. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lowry and son Brian and Mr. and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Kronk and family enjoyed a week vacation in northern Michigan and into Canada with their campers. They returned home on Tuesday of last week and Mr. and Mrs. Lowry and son left for the week end to southern Indiana and returned home on Sunday evening. Mrs. Thelma Lawrence returned by plane from a vacation in Texas visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Ken Wray and Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Whitaker, at Grapevine, and Mr. and Mrs. Carlyle Leslie, of Buchanan Dam. Sight seeing of the area was also enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. George Washington and three daughters, of Alexandra, Kentucky, have moved into the Koontz Lake property formerly owned and occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Errol Van Buskirk and family. The Washingtons moved in July 27. Mr. and Mrs. Van Buskirk and family have moved to Minnesota where he is employed. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Lawrence and Mr. and Mrs. John Flaherty will serve as hosts for the carry in dinner on Saturday evening at the Koontz Lake Conservation Club beginning at 5:30, A social hour will follow. Members of the Seitz family who came for the funeral services for Vera Seitz on Wednesday of last week were Joseph D. Seitz and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Pestel, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Seitz and son, of Decatur, Georgia; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Cole and Mr. and Mrs. Terry Cole, of Hartsburg. Mo.; and Tom Chudanov, of Glendale, Arizona.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Estlick and daughter from ElCagon, California, came last week to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Jacobs and family. Mrs. Estlick is the twin sister of Mrs. Jacobs. The Estlicks have been transferred to Detroit where he is employed and while waiting for a suitable place to move into Mrs. Estlick and daughter will be staying with the Jacobs. Mrs. Darel Mutz and son, of New Hall, California, are here for several weeks stay with Mr. and Mrs. Bud Hunt. Mrs. Mutz and son came for the wedding of her daughter, Miss Jill Erbaugh on August 26. The wedding is planned to be a garden ceremony at her home south of Plymouth. Miss Karla and Ronald Smith, of Crestwood, Illinois, spent last week with their grandmother, Mrs. Helen Smith. Koontz Lake. Ronald is staying another week but si‘ter Karla returned home on Sunday. Mrs. Gladys Dance and Mrs. Lucy Cobb were Sunday evening guests of Mrs. Thelma Lawrence. Mary Summers, route 1; Ross Ecker, route 1; Angela M. Stump, route 2; and Debbie Weaver, route 2, Walkerton, are attending the youth safety seminar from August 8 to 11 a the Circle R Ranch, at Bainbridge. The camp is conducted by staff of Indiana Farm Bureau. The camp program was organized for high school students, mostly freshmen and sophomores, in an effort to

Gerald Brown and sons, of Elkhart, Meri Brown, of South Bend, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Redingcr, of South Bend, Linda Brown, South Bend, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Schultz and children, of Hanna, and Mrs. Virginia Berg, of Hamlet. An exceptional and enjoyable day was expressed by the group. Mrs. Joe Murphy and two children Mark and Joey, of Evergreen, Colorado, are here for a week visit with her mother, Mrs. Elsie Morris. On Sunday they entertained with a pot luck dinner with the following guests present, Mr. and Mr^| Ralph LaFeber, Mr. and Mrs. Walter LaFeber and family, of Ithaca, New York; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Williams, of North Liberty; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Jack and Craig, of Hamlet; Mr. and Mrs. Gene Brems and family, of Walkerton. The dinner was enjoyed picnic style at the Koontz Lake home of Mrs. Morris. A man’s temper improves the more he doesn't use it. Before heading out on vacation motorists are advised to make sure their tires have not worn to one-.-ixteenth inch or less.
