Mrs. Ge ige Ferverda, formerly ol Walkerton, now of Lake Wales, Florida, is spending the summer months in Walkerton making her headquarters m the home of Mro. Ben Brede at Koontz Lake. Both the ladies will return to their Florida homes in the fall. Mrs. Ida Schaunamann, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is the guest of her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Schaunamann, at Koontz Lake. Miss Eunice Wiles, of Wabash, was a week end gue--t of Miss Ethel Bierly. Mrs. Alta Bowers was also a guest on Sunday evening. Mrs. Roy Newell spent several days last week with her sister, Mrs. Joseph Z. Uhlir, in Oak Park, 111., and also attended the 10th annual reunion of the Bertha E. Celi Past Grand Matron Club at McCormick Inn, Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Clark spent the week end in Chicago visiting his brother, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Clark. On Saturday they were at the Sox and Oakland ball game and on Sunday enjoyed a birthday party for two former friends at the home of Scott Clarks. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Smith were Mr. and Mrs. Amos Bierly, Mr. and Mrs Dwaine Whitmer and sons and Bill Bierly and Miss Sharon McAdams. On Thursday of last week, Mrs. Bertha Urbin and her sister, Mrs. Ruth Hughes, of South Bend, were in Monticello to visit their brother, G. E. Metzger. Mrs. Ed Pogodzinski returned home from the LaPorte Hospital Saturday and is slowly improv, ing from a heart condition suf. sered two weeks ago. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hostetler were the guests of honor at a purprise party on the occasion of their recent marriage given by friends at the Lanes Case, North Liberty. Refreshments were served and lovely gifts were received. Guests present including the children were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Kaser, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Roser, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Harbaugh, Mr. and Mrs. A. Harlozinski, and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hostetler. Gene Knowlton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Knowlton, was elected to a city-county office at Boys' State held at Indiana State ; University, Terre Haute, on Wednesday, June 20.

Mrs. Joseph VanDuyse and Mrs. Victor Hester, of LaPorte, were Sunday guests of Mrs. Esther Kaufman. Mrs. Gladys Dance and Mrs. Luex Cobb, ot South Bend, were Sunday guests ol Mr-. G. A. Lawrence. A bus load of Scottish Rite members of committee of 60 went to Warsaw on Tuesday night of last week to see the play at the Wagon Wheel entitled, "But. terflie.- Are Free.” Several members from Koontz Lake were among the group. Mr. Charles Drewrey was the instructor and presented the diplomas. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur DeMyer and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Finch, of Hanna, w’ere Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Foster Rearick, in Logansport. Mr. and Mrs. Dale UHery were in Ft. Wayne Saturday and Sunday visiting their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. John KVcofe. The occasion was in celebration of the first birthday of their granddaughter on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. James Morrey, Mr. and Mrs. William Dickson and Mr. and Mrs. George Pfeiffer of Koontz Lake were at the Wagon Wheel Theatre on Sunday evening in Warsaw to see the play “Butterflies Are Free.” Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Sanders left Friday on their return trip to Texas after a short vacation here with Mrs. Alta Bowers and Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Bowers in Hamlet. On Monday of last week they were in Berrien Springs to see the Andrews University and in Roseland to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hardt.
