South Bend, since last week and was in the intensive care waid for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Wallace, of E tst Lansing, Mich., spent the week end vi.iting Mrs. Lillian Peterson and Mrs. Jenn.e Bieler. Rev. and Mrs. Russell Schelling have moved to Kokomo and they have sold their home to Mrs. Earl Packer and she has moved in. Mr. and Mrs. James Lambert and son. of Elkhart, Mr. and Mrs. David Clark, Mr. and Mrs. In. man Whitmer, Mr. and Mrs. David Clark and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Clark and son and Larry Clark were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Rus till Clark. Hal Brown and Mary Zook, of Goshen, called on the latter's mother, Mrs. Martha Taylor, on Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Smith opened the meeting With a poem entitled, “Make A Friend Today.” Mrs. Elburt Place, the new president for 1973, was introduced and asked members to register for the play Camelot at Cantiberry Theatre in Michigan Cty on August 1. Group singing was enjoyed and led by Miw. Harold Knowlton with Mrs. David Lawrence at the piano. A playlette entitled. "Husbands Are Human" with Mrs. John Guttman, Walkerton, directing, was given by Mrs. William Michalski, Mrs. Floyd Bowles, Mrs. Fern Grote. Mrs. Wilder Burnsides, Mrs. Brooke Bowers, Miss Ethel Bierly and Mrs. David Lawrence. Other guests were Mrs. Floyd Sanders, Keene, Texas; Mrs. Clinton Bowers, Hamlet; and Mrs. Francis Holland. Walkerton. A parody to "Silver Threads Among The Gold" was sung by Mrs. Charles Daube, Mrs. Knowlton, Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Kaufman with Mrs. Lawrence accompaning. Mrs. Smith, retiring pfesident, was pre ented with a gift from the club by Mrs. Daube. Each gueit received a potted African violet. Attendance awards were given Mi-s. John Williams, Mrs. Marie Stably. Miss Madaline Stevenson, Mrs. Sanders, Mrs. Hazel Brownlee and Mrs. Smith. Punch wa • served at the close of the evening by the committe, Mrs. Knowlton, Mrs. Bess Hopper, Mrs. Clyde Snodgrass, Mrs. Lorraine Turnes and Mrs. Harry Steinke. - News 'N Notes - Two summer specials will be opening June 30 at Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. In the museum there will be an exhibition of American Folk Art; Wood and Clay. It includes examples of wood carving and pot. tery* drawn from the extensive -collections of the Henry Ford Museum. They are primarily 19th century works. An Old Time Summer Festival will open in Greenfield Village presented by the Greenfied Vil. lage Players. They will recall the entertainments of yesteryear with a series of summer diversions. They include a sterling minstrel, a Punch and Judy show, a Medicine Show, stories from Mark Twain, a dialogue with Ben Franklin and a re. enactment of the famous Lincoln-Douglas debates. These programs and exhibits will continue through September 3. Also on tap for July 4 is a special shew at noon entitled "Let Freedom Ring.’’ Friday. Saturday, Sunday June 29. 30. The deadlines are as follows: Queen, Band and Cheerleading Contests, July 1; Ole Time Fidd. lers Contest, August 6; and the Horseshoe Pitching Contest, Au. gust 10. Thurston advised that no entries will be accepted after the published deadline, therefore it is imperative for those wishing to enter any of these contests to mail their entry to the Special Events Office at the Indiana State Fair.
