July 4lh Activities Set For Walkerton The annua] -Ith of Jury celebration in Walkerton will feature fjeworks on Wednesday evening, Drago Amusement- all week, Kiddi -s 1 > ays. games and fun for the whole family. The Drago Amusements will start on Monday evening, July 2 and they will have two kiddies days at reduced prices on Thursday and Saturday afternoons. The 4th of July kiddie? games and contests will begin at 10:00 a m. followed by a Little league ball game at 1 :00 jnm. and the slow pitch softball game at 3:00 pm. The climax of the day will be the beautiful fireworks in the evening at dark. Come on out and enjoy the day in Walkerton. 4.H PICNIC JULY 14 A reminder to al] Lincoln Township 4-H members and club leaders that the picnic will be held on Saturday, July 14 at Stuntz Pine Forest from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 pm. All members and leaders are asked to furnish their own transportation, hot dogs and fc™ 3 - 4.H TO MEET There will also be an important 4-H meeting on July 2 and 9 from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. The meetings will be held at the John Glenn High School m the Ag room. All Junior Leaders and club officers are requested to attend. Ideas concerning the picnic and other current events will be discussed. WINS GOLD MEDAL Sherri Zellers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Damon Nichols, has won a gold medal for scholastic award at Green School. She also won a mathematics award which was a silver pin and certificate. WALKERTON TOWN BOARD Walkerton’s Town Board met on Tuesday, June 19 and approved a resolution satisfying a state stream pollut; n control board requirement that the board will enact a system of user charges and an eqit.table waste-cost sys. tern within 90 days after receipt of a government grant. This resolution is required, it was moled, cn the event the town’s ap plication is approved for federal and state assistance in the construction of a treatment plant and additional main and interceptor line as required. Recent correspondence from the stream pollution control board in_ > dicates the town has been assigned a total of 15 points out । of the maximum of 31 points possible for consideration of fund requests. 'Die members of the board voted I to postpone the repainting of the town’s water tower. A notice from the state off.ee । of the public employment board points out certain rules about I former town employees, it was noted. Any former employees now retired or on pensions can be re.employed by the town on a part time or relief help basis up to a pericxi of 600 hours per year without affecting the pension rights of the employee. Following a di^-uss.on. the board extended an invitation for Wayne Randolph, high school guidance counselor at John Glenn, to at .end a future board meeting to cent.nue discussion of expected involvement of town departments along with local businesses and industries in connection with student programs.
