Walkerton Halloween Party Set The Walkerton children’s annual Halloween Party will begin with a parade at 6:00 p.m. from the Walkerton Lions Youth Building on Monday, October 30 going down Washington Street to the Walkerton Elementary School gym, sponsored by the Walkerton Jaycees. Age groups will be from 1-3; 4- 5; 6- 8; and 9 - 12. Cash prizes will be awarded in each group for the spookiest, cutest, most imaginative and most realistic. Refreshments will be served. Any club or organization wishing to make a donation toward the expense, please call Dick Awald, 586-3859, the Jaycees chairman for the party. KARELIN HARDWARE ROBBED LAST MONDAY Kabelin Hardware, 724 Roosevelt Road, Walkerton, was robbed on Monday, October 16 in the afternoon of several hundreds of dollars from the safe of cash and checks. PTO Carnival This Saturday , In Walkerton Some 20 booths will offer a variety of entertainment at the Polk-Lincoln-Johnson PTO Fall Carnival from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, October 28, in the Walkerten Elementary School. The PTO will use proceeds to help finance the cost of special educational projects and equipment in local schools. Mrs. Irwin Florian and Mrs. Richard Kickbush, chairmen, announced the following list of booths and their sponsoring clases: Fish pond, kindergarten Treasure hunt and age guessing, first grades Bozo's bucket and bowling, second grades Lollypcp tree, cartoons and marbk guess, third grades Pi p corn stand, ballon concession and ring toss, fourth grades Spook house and jail, fifth grades Cake walk, country store and dart game, sixth grades Food concession and Bozo dunking tank, seventh grades Musical combo, football toss and cotton candy, eighth grades Soft drinks, Urey GAA Room mothers and teachers from each class are in charge of the booths. Mrs. Ernest Brovoid is chairman of merchants’ door prizes. Other highlights include a pumpkin decorating contest and sale of cookbooks featuring recipes of PTO members. Pizza, sandwiches, salads and desserts will be served at the food concesion stand all evening. AUXILIARY TO OBSERVE MEMBERSHIP MONTH Membership month will be observed by the Orville Easterday Unit 189 of the American Legion Auxiliary on Thursday, November 2 with a pot luck supper at 6:30 pm. Husbands are invited as special guests. Mrs. Robert Wardman, membership chairman, reports a life membership will be awarded and initiation conducted. There will be no business meeting. Bring a covered dish and your own table service. The meat will be furnished. FALL BAND CONCERT The annual fall band concert of the PLJ schools, has been scheduled for Thursday, November 9, at 7:30 p.m. NOTICE The Polk-Lincoln-Johnson School Corporation and the North Liberty Schools will be closed on November 2 and 3 for the teachers attending professional meetings. SPOOKY BAKE SALE The WSCS of the United Methodist Church will hold a “Spooky Bake Sale,, at the Illinois Street Building on Saturday. A double celebration will be held on Sunday, October 29, in the North Liberty Community Building for the golden anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Snyder and the silver anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Snyder. Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Snyder were married on November 1, 1922, by the Rev. J. Burnett, in Mishawaka. Mrs. Snyder is the former Minnie Nelson. They are the parents of two sons, Harold and Gene, both of North Liberty; and two daughters, Mrs. Phyliss Hess, of Lydick, and Mrs. Maxine Amer, of Lakeville. They have 16 grandchildren and two great-grande hildren. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Snyder wcie married on Octobei 31, 1917, in Mishawaka by Rev. Hayes in the Christian Church. Mrs. Snyder is the former Elaine Freeze. They are the parents of f^ur daughters, Patricia, cf Chicago; Christine, Susan and Rebecca, all of North Liberty; and six sons, Harold Jr., and Robert and William, of South Bend; John, Stephen and Noel, all of North Liberty. They have two grandchildren. The two couples will be entertained by t' eir children at a dinner preceding the epen house to be held from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. They ask friends and relatives to attend and request no gifts. Lionettes Plan K. L. Halloween Party A community Halloween party for the children in the Koontz Lake area will take place Tuesday, October 31, as sponsored by the Koontz Lake Lionettes. The Lions will assist, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served and a treat for each contestant. Prizes will be awarded in at least 12 categories, with cash prizes of SI.OO, 50c and 25c given for the first three places. A door prize will also be given. Mrs. Chester D.
