Brian Hevel and friend, Buddy Merchant, of St. Petersburg, Fla., visited grandparents and friends in the North Liberty area last week. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Albright have returned to their home at Ellington, Florida, after visiting relatives and friends here. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Finch, of Hanna, called on Mrs. Fred De- - Coudres Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bailey, Brenda, Robert and Steven, of Goshen, were Sunday afternoon visitors of Mrs. Esther Harman. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Parsons and Brian, of Niles, and Mrs. Edith Steele, were Sunday evening luncheon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Steele and family. The Over 60 Club will meet at the North Liberty Community Building on Wednesday, October 11 with a pot luck dinner at noon. Mrs. Ruth Bare recently visited her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Toegley, in Vandalia, Michigan. Little Donnie Noel, of Goshen, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Clark fell recently and received a gash on his face which required a number of stitches. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Stuver, of Niles, Michigan, Mrs. Russell Naragon, of Walkerton, and Cleo Sheneman were Sunday afternoon callers of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Sheneman. Urey Panthers Win Over North Liberty Urey Middle School raised its record to 2-1 as it downed North Liberty 28-20 on September 26. The Panthers used their complete 40 man squad on their way to victory. The first Urey score came at 2:06 in the first quarter with a 10 yard sw6ep by fullback Jim Wieger. Urey tried to run the PAT and failed. The score remained 6-0 until the second period. The first touchdown in the second quarter came on a three yard run again by Jim Wieger with the PAT good for 2 on a Leonard Jaske to Ron Haney pass. The second came on a 20 yard end sweep by quarterback Jerry Johnson. The PAT attempt failed. Urey struck pay dirt first again in the third quarter on a 3 yard run by Matt Pearish. The PAT once again failed. Liberty’s first touchdown came in the third period on a 60 yard touchdown run by Rick Naragon. Rizek; treasurer, Mrs. Walter Pickavet; secretary, Mrs. James Bolze and song leader, Mrs. Robert Flaugher. Tile club discussed meetings, lessons and projects for the year followed by refreshments by the hostesses. The hostess prize was won by Mrs. Cole and the co-hostess prize went to Mrs. Robert Schaeffer. Tlie October meeting will be held in the home of Mrs. Robert Wagner. Girl Scout program. The first service unit meeting will be held on October 10 in tha Youth Building at 9:30 a.m. Anyone willing to donate their time and services to the Giri Scouts may come to this meeting. JGHS BAND AT BALL STATE SATURDAY Fifty members of the John Glen n High School Band were at Ball State University Saturday, September 30. During the morning the members rehearsed two hours and participated in the Parade of Bands. After lunch they took part in the pre-game show with 3,000 high schoool band members and the Ball State University Band. Matt Kickbush, Ed Fenstermacher and Patty Miller, trumpters of the JGHS Band appeared with the Ball State Band, 400 other trumpters, and Doc Severenson, of the Tonight Show, during the half time show. Band director Donald Swing and Mrs. Swing and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Westhues accompanied the group. CHAPMANS enjoy MONTH VACATION Mr. and Mrs. Clyde cnapman have returned home from a month vacation in the western states. Enroute to California they stopped at the Com Palace, Mitchell, South Dakota, The Badlands, the famous Wall Drug Store and the Black Hills of South Dakota, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks in Wyoming. Also Salt Lake City, Utah, Ponderosa Ranch of Bonanza TV fame, Incline Village, Reno, Carson City and Lake Tahoe, Nevada. \ In California they visited relatives at Lakeport, Walnut Creek, Valencia and Onyx. Several sightseeing trips were made in California to Chinatown, a cruise from Fisherman's Wars and Golden Gate Bridge In San Francisco. Also the Queen Mary at Long Beach, Marti's ROsaa uLLaoAkIte Dato-fltoHvftapv Bag*, era Museum at Apple and Yosemite National Park, On the return trip stops were made at Scotty's Castle in Death Valley, Calif., Las Vegas and Hoover Dam in Nevada.
