Ralph McKinley Rankin Ralph McKinley Rankin, 78, 30151 Leeper Road, North Liberty, died at 5:30 p.m. on September 19 of an apparent heart attack. He was bom in New Liberty, 111., on June 16. 1896 and had lived the past 30 years in the area coming from Kankakee, Illinois. He is survived by one son, Harold Rankin, South Bend; anti five daughters, Mrs. Patricia Colley, Mishawaka; Mrs. Ruth Ann Johnston, South Bend; Mrs. Kathleen Drummond, Astor, Florida; Mrs. Vita Wetmore, Bradley, III.; and Mrs. Marian Flanders Radman, of Mishawaka; 27 grandchildren and nine great-grand-children; two sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Tannehill, Bradley, Ill.; and Mrs. Frieda Oadbors, Bourbannais, Ill.; and one brother, Fred Rankin, of LaPorte. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at 543 Court St. at the Hertz and Thomas Funeral Homo, in Kankakee, 111. The Rev. Al Hilding officiated with burial following in Kankakee. He worked at Studebakers for 27 years and also was a farmer. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. Clarence Rhodebeck Clarence Wayne Rhodebeck, 75, 607 Adams St., W’alkerton, died at 1:05 p.m. Monday at the E Street Hospital, LaPorte, following an extensive illness. ?*<>rn January 15, 1897, at Mt. Gilead, Ohio, he resided in this area 27 years coming from Harbor Springs, Michigan. Mr. Rhodebeck, a retired employee of the Allis-Chalmers Corporation at LaPorte, was married July 24, 1945 at South Bend to Icy May Lowery Davis, who survives. Mr. Rhodebeck was a veteran of W’orld War I, a member of American Legion Post 189, in Walkerton; the South Bend Disabled Veterans and was affiliated with the Methodist Church. Surviving with his wife are one foster daughter, Marlene Cook, Pellston, Mich.; two step-daugh-ters, Mrs. Myrtle Shock, Burr Oak; and Mrs. Marjorie Martin, Walkerton; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Anna Stephan, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Services were conducted at 2:00 P m - Wednesday at the NusbaumElkin Funeral Home, Walkerton, with Rev Clyde D. Wake, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. Mrs. Margaret Dlpert Services for Mrs. Margaret Dipert, 65, route 1, Grovertown, who died at 9:00 p.m, Sunday at her heme following a heart attack, were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Ranndis Funeral Home in Hamlet, with Rev. Ernest Giant, officiating. Burial was in the Grovertown Cemetery’. Mrs. Di pert was bom September 23, 1907, in Chicago, 111., and came to this area 46 years ago from there. She was married to Guy Dipert May 1, 1925, in Grovertown. He survives along with two children, Glen, of Chicago Heights, III.; and Mrs. Deloris Jensen, route 1. Grovertown; two brothers, Robert Lemar, Culver, and Charles Lemar, Berwyn, Ill.; a sisteri Mrs Beatrice Reeves, Georgia; and six grandchildren. Mrs. Daisy Sweigart Mrs. Daisy Sweigart, a former Gary’ schoolteacher, died in Clearwater, Florida, at the age of 74. She had been confined to a hospital for three months after being struck by’ an auto. Her husband, Bert Sweigart. was superintendent cf the Walkerton schools some years ago, and he preceded her in death. After retiring from teaching in 1955 they moved to Clearwater frem Gary. She is survived by a son. Nick Sweigart, of Crown Point. Funeral services were held at the Moss Lakeside Chapo! with burial in Clearwater, Florida.
