Mr. and Mrs. Harold Knowlton attended the Kelver reunion held at Bendix Woods Park Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Henry were in Hamlet Monday afternoon to attend the memorial services of her brother Claude Shankland of Toledo, Ohio. Burial was in Fletcher Cemetery at Hamlet. Mr. and Mrs. David Knowlton and daughter returned Sunday from a two week vacation at Curtis, Michigan. Miss Dora Loehr came home with them to spend a month with the Knowlton's. Mr. and Mrs. A. Wunsch of Mt. Vernon, Ohio was a guest this week end of Mrs. Grover Oplinger and Mr. and Mrs. David Lynd. • Mrs. M. B. Slick had as her house guests, her four grandchildren from Thursday till Sunday evening. E. Paul and Mrs. Slick were in South Bend at Notre Dame attending E. Paul’s alumni gathering. They stayed at a motel nights. E. Paul has two degrees from the university, one in electrical engineering and pne in science. Saturday evening the Koontz Lake Conservation Club will have their usual pot luck super beginning at 5:30 p.m. and a social hour will follow with Mrs. Adelaide Flaherty and Mrs. Emma Ward for hosts of the evening. 5 The General W.S.C.S. meeting tof the Walkerton United Methodist Church held Wednesday evening, June 7, in the Fellowship Hall in the church, sponsored a pot-luck supper had as their guests thirteen ladies of the South Bend Urban League. This is called the fun night and the four Circles of the W.S.C.S. each presented skits as their part of the entertainment of the evening. Mrs. Robert Fenstermacher, president presided and Mrs. Dean Knowlton gave the devotions. Mrs. Edgar Cole, vice president, presented a film entitled "The Sustaining Bread"; after which all present participated in receiving the Communion Serv’ce as the closing of the evening.

Mrs. Martha Young returned home Sunday after spending a week with her brother, Mr. and Mis. Louis Ehrhardt, at Charlestown, Indiana. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Baker and Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Walz were Sunday guests of Dr. and Mrs. Dick Hershberger and family at their cottage on Lake Wawassee. For fathers day Sunday Mr. and Mrs. William C. Dickson will have the following guests. Mr. and Mrs. William Dickson and family from Niles, Illinois and Mr. Joe Banky of Mount Prospect, Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Bray of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky were week end guests of their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. William Elkins and children, Mike and Elkin’s and children. Mike and Tracie. Friday evening, June 9, the Elkins entertained with an informal gathering of friends to meet their parents.. Home made ice cream and a cake in honor of a guest, Mrs. Irene Place who has a birthday June, 15th; was enjoyed. Others enjoying the party w r ere: Mrs. DeWayne Pavey and son Wesley; Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Elkins; Mr. and Mrs. Newton Williams; and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Lawrence. The Brays ruturned to their home on Sunday, June 11th. An open air meeting of the Masonic Lodge was held for all masons of St. Joseph County Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Henry’s Woods northeast of Walkerton. There were 81 present for the Master Mason Degree Work for one candidate. Dinner was catered by Frames from the local Dairy Queen. The day was enjoyed very much although the temperature was a bit on the chilly side in the woods. Mr. and Mrs. John H. Evans, Springfield, Illinois, were overnight guests of Mrs. Evans, parents, Mr. and Mrs. Newton Williams, Friday, June 9th and to bid farewell to Mr. Williams who left Sunday, with Edward Klopfenstein for a week fishing trip to Northern Michigan.

Mrs. Harold Rensberger was returned to Memorial Hospital lest Wednesday for a week or more because of complications. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Thompson of Chicago were guests the first of the week with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hostetler. Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Morrey of Barrington, Illinois were guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Vek ler and family. Mrs. Fayette Dunn came home Monday morning after having spent the week end in South Bend with her sister and husband Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Dunnuck. Mrs. Grace Atwood was the honored guest at dinner Monday evening in the home of Mr. and Mis. Louis Houser. The event being Mrs. Atwood’s birthday. Miss Jennifer Jacob came home last week end for a week vacation with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Jacob and Jeff. Jennifer will return to Atlanta, Ga., for the summer months where she has employment. Mrs. Chai les Epperson and children were guests Friday evening of her mother Mrs. Esther Kauffman. The Eppersons live in East Gary Indiana. On Sunday the left for Hudson, Ontario, Canada, where they have a summer home for the remainder of the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Lary Hostetler and daughter of West Lafayette and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Snodgrass were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Anderson and family. On Saturday evening the group went out for dinner to celebrate the wedding anniversaries of Mr. and Mrs. Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Snodgrass. Mr. nad Mrs. Russell Lawrence and Mr. and Mrs. George Pfiffer celebrated their 48th., wedding anniversary on June sth with a dinner in South Bend and the remainder of the evening in the Lawrence home on Koontz Lake. The Pfeiffers had spent the day of June 4th with their family and friends in Chicago to celebrate the event. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Jacobs were notified Monday morning of a new grandson born June 12, to their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Anderson of Nijes, Michigan. The mother and son are in the Oestepathic Hospital in South Bend. A reunion was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Skinner Sunday for the descendents of B. F. and Susan Thompson families who were former residents of Walkerton. There were 66 present for the 39th annual reunion coming from South Bend Indianapolis, Chicago, Evanston, Michigan City, Plymouth and Walkerton. Harold Hostettler was elected president and Mrs. .Robert Barden secretary-treasurer and the reunion is to be held at the same place next year. Games for children with several gifts for each child was enjoyed and Leigh Roy Hahn supplied the iced cold pop for the children which was a delight for the young group. °

Mike Amling, Dirk Pletcher, Miss Kay and Kari Cripe, Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Cripe Mr. and Mrs. Everett Baker and Mrs. Bertha Urbin were at Auburn, Indiana, Saturday evening to attend the wedding and reception of John Tarlton and Cindy Jordan in the Cedar Lake First Brethern Church. Mr. and Mrs. Hary Doll and Mr. and Mrs. George Hershberger were in French Lick, Indiana, Friday, Saturday and Sunday attending the Scottish Rite, Indiana Council of Deliberation. On their wnay home they were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stevenson of Galvaston, Indiana in honor of Harry and Minas second wedding anniveisary. Dr. John and Helen Goodpasture will be entertaining the boys and girls from the special education class of the Chesterfield School in te Anderson, Indiana, school system this week-end. Their daughter, Mrs. Alice Anne Griffiths, is teacher of this class. Assisting her will he Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schelton, and daughter, of Anderson; Jeff and Drusilla Ross, of Koontz Lake; Barbara Habbegger, Wendy Welter and Becki Moffatt, of South Bend. Some of these children are from the Madison County Children’s Home.
