Congradulations to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Strope on their 50th wedding anniversary of which they will be celebrating on Sunday, May 7. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Parsons and Brian of Niles, Michigan, were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Edith Steele on Sunday evening luncheon guests included the Parsons and Mrs. Clifton Schany and Craig of Leesburg along with Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Gratner and George of Walkertc - Mr. and Mrs. Donald Noel and children of Goshen were guests Saturday and Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Clark. The Noels and Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Clark were Sunday dinner guests. Mr. and Mrs. Manin Kizer of North Liberty, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fogley of Vandalia, Mich, and Ethel Hillegas of South Bend spent Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Max McCutcheon in Gary. Other guests attending the banquet held recently at the Ramada Inn, South Bend were Mr. and Mrs. Keith Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hosinski. Recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Taylor were Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Smith of Osceola; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Strycker. Osceola, Mary Enrody, South Bend, Mrs. Orville Klinedinst of Walkerton and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Brown of Lakeville. The Mother-Daughter banquet of the First Brethren Church will begin at 6:30 p.m., May 10 with dinner. All the women of the church and their guests are invited. A pot luck meal will be featured with a special speaker for the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sheneman entertained last Thursday evening with a dinner in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Parsons. Other guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Kronk of near Walkerton; Mrs. J. C. Milner, Mr. and Mrs. Barney Wentz. Mr. and Mrs. George Henry and Rev. and Mrs. Tom Jones and son. FISH FRY MAY 13 At the May meeting of the North Liberty Community Building Board plans were finalized for the upcoming Originial Jonah Fish Fry to be held at the Community Building in North Liberty. The date set for the Fish Fry is Saturday, May 13, 1972. The hours tor serving are scheduled from 4:30 till 8:00 p.m. Orders for carry outs will also be taken during these hours. Donations are $1.75 for adults, $.75 for children 6-12, and children under 6 are free. Tickets may be purchased from any Board member prior to May 13 or they will also be availabe at the door the night of the Fish Fry. All proceeds from the Fish Fry are to be used for the upkeep and repair of the North Liberty Community Building WALK FOR DEVELOPMENT The North Liberty high school students need individuals or merchants to sponsor them on the Walk For Development on May 13. Sponsors may pledge any amount they desire. The money will help support poverty and hunger in St. Joseph County and foreign countries. This year’s goal is $50,000. Anyone who wishes to participate to sponsor a w'alker, contact Janet Shupert, phone 6564476. Cake Baking Contest To Be Held The Better Homes Extension Club is again sponsoring a Cake Baking Contest for the annual Walkerton Summer Festival. The contest will be held on Thursday, June 1 at tiie Farmers State Bank ' Walkerton. Cakes are to be at the bank between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Cakes will be judged at 3:30 p.m. on the basis of taste, texture and quality by a representative from the South Bend' office of County Extension. Gifts will be awarded to the top winners in the five divisions at the bank parking lot at 8:30 p.m. on

The entry banks can be found in this paper with the categories being angel food, butter, chocolate, miscellaneous and box. All homemakers are invited to enter. Leiner, 9670 Gallop Lane, St. Louis, has been named Junior Officer of the Month for Headquarters, Military Airlift Command (MAC) at Scott AFB, Illinois. Lieutenant Leimen, a financial officer, was selected for his leadership, devotion to duty and professional performance. MAC provides glonal airlift for U.S. miitary forces. The lieutenant, a 1961 graduate of Lutheran South High School in Affton, Mo., received his A.B. degree in economics in 1965 from the University of Missouri and was commissioned there upon completion of the Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps program. The lieutenant, a member of Phi Delta Theta, earned his M.A. degree in 1968 from Washington University in St. Louis. His wife, Sandra, is the daughter of Mr. and Mra. Douglas C.
