North Liberty. Larry Holderbaum, who received injuries in a car accident and has been in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, is slightly improved. He would be pleased to hear from his friends. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Brinkhoff had a plesant surprise Monday exening by the arrival of Mrs. Brinkhoffs sister, Mrs. Metya Arts and Dina Van DeKoppel from the Netherlands. They came to suprise them on their silver wedding anniversary and will be visiting here for two weeks before returning home. They brought a dozen and ahas of fresh tulips from their garden for Mr. and Mrs. Brinkhoff.

Mr. Perry was from Big Fork, Minn, and he passed away on Thursday, March 30. Gordon Clark of Layfayette spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Durwood Clark and Lawane. MISS RI PEL PROMOTED TO ASSOCIATE PROFEF^SOR Mi.ss Esther F. Rupel has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor at Purdue University. She is a member of the teaching staff of the Department of Clothing and Textiles in tne School of Home Economics. She received the degree Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Minnesota at the December commencement. Her dissertation, "An Investigation of the Origin, Significance, and Demise of the Prescribed Dress Worn by Members of the Church of the Brethren," contains both historical and contemporary photographs. While doing her research she visited many Brethren churches in Indiana. Ohio, and Pennsylvania, and corresponded with church members across the United States. Miss Rupel is a graduate of Walkerton-Lincoln Township High School. She lives with her sister, Miss Annabel Rupel, Extension Specialist-Youth in 4-H, and her mother, Mrs. Edith Rupel, formerly of Walkerton. TAMMY IS NINE Miss Tammy Patrick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Patrick, who celebrated her ninth birthday on Easter this year, spent the week end with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sheneman. Luncheon guests on Sunday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Chester Thayer of LaPaz, who returned home last Tuesday from Avon Park, Florida, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stoneburner, of Walkerton, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Patrick and Jeff, Cleo Sheneman and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Patrick. Business Wemtn Mett In Walkerton The Dixie Walkers, Walkerton s Square Dance Club, entertained the members of the Business and Professional Women’s Club Thuisday evening, March 23, at their regular meeting in the American Legion dining room. Four couples: Mr. and Mrs. Richard Shank, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Divine, Mr. and Mrs. James Daley and Clyde Stickley, all of Walkerton; and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Firestone, of North Liberty, performed a program of dances with Mr. Firestone doing the calling. Miss Denise Groves sang two numbers, "A Wonderful Guy” and "If Ever I Would Leave You.’’ She was accompanied by Mrs. Grace Atwood at the piano. The Easter theme was carried out in the table decor. Mrs. Walter Hiler was introduced as a guest of her daughter, Miss Judy Hiler. Mrs. Paula Bell received the door prize and Mrs. Jack Rizek the Easter Egg contest prize. Contributions to tne birthday bank were made by: Mrs. William Beaver, Mrs. Russell Lawrence, Mrs. Bess Gindelberger and Mrs. Grover Oplinger. Hostesses were Mrs. John Guttman, assisted by Mrs. Irene Place, Mrs. David Clark, Miss Judy Hiler, Mrs. Roger Kelly, Mrs. Ida Mae Watkins, Mrs. Melvin Divine and Mrs. Paid Jones. Mrs. Lowell Jevening, president, announced that the April meeting will be known as friends night. It will be a carry in dinner at the Walkerton Community Building with each member being called as what to bring.
