Easter Cantata At North Liberty Methodist Church A cantata, "No Greater Love” hy John W. Peterson, will be presented Easter Sunday by the Chancel Choir of the North Liberty United Methodist Church. The choir under the direction of Mrs. Gary Nelson will present this beautiful cantata for the morning worship service at 9:30 a.m. Easter Sunday, April 2. Soloists are Mrs. Mary LaTurner, Mrs. Elaine Wagner, Mrs. Madelyn Nelson, Rev. Robert Willbanks, Mr. William Hartman. and Mr. Rick Steele. Accompanists are Mrs. Carol yn Shupert and Mrs. Juanita Manuel. Mr. Osborn Fisher will read the narration. The public is invited to come join in our Easter worship. DeMolav News Fathers, or a proxy of DeMolay boys, are invited to a special treat Monday evening. April 3, when Walkerton Chapter holds their stated meeting at the Masonic Temple at 7:30 o'clock. Robert J Hepler, a prominent Goshen attorney and Big Ten football official, will Ik* the guest speaker. Active in Masonic circles, a 33rd degree Mason, a past Sovereign Prince of Scottish Rite in the Valley of South Bend, a member of Goshen Lodge No. 12, F & AM and Orak Shrine Temple of Hammond, and a past "Dad" of the Goshen DeMolay chapter in 1960, is well aware of the interests and problems confronting the young men today. Having been named "Indiana Dad of the Year" in 1966, convinced Brad Gillies. Master Councilor of the membership of the local chapter and an enlightenment to their fathers or sponsors of the real purpose and fundamental values of being a DeMolay. A graduate of South Bend Central High School, Wabash College and Notre Dame University, classes Mr. Hepler in a position to be of assistance to young men who have been selected to membership in DeMolay. Highlights of his talk will be interesting, humorous and inspirational situations that occur on and off the field in the great spectacle of interscholastic football. DeMolay "Dad" Don W’olfenbarger and officers urge fathers and interested men to attend this meeting and encourage these boys and their leaders, in their efforts. Refreshments will be served with mothers of the boys during the social hour. Peace Corp Assignment Topic At Club On Friday. Arts And Crafts Contest April 22 The 1972 Art and Crafts Committee announced this year's revised rules. Judges are being selected and will be announced at a later date. An entry blank will be in next’s week’s newspaper, and can also be obtained from the art teacher at any of the local schools. The PTA representatives (and chairman of the committee) is Barb Rohrer. Other members of the committee are as follows: Ruth DeSimone, Tri-Kappa; Dave Bell, Urey Jr. High; Steve Smith, John Glenn High; Sister Euthemia and Susan Klebosits, St. Patrick's school; Shirley Mahoney, St. Patrick's Women's Club; and Sue Klinedinst. representing the Walkerton Elementary building. 1. The contest showing will be held in the Walkerton Elementary School gym Sunday, April 22, 1972 between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. 2. All work submitted must be done by the contestant themselves since April 1971. 3. Consultation is permissible as long as the art submited is the contestant's own work. 4. Painting by numb'rs, tracing kits, molds, or any other direct copying will not be permitted, Committee’s decision is final. 5. Three-dimensional work is considered a craft unless the contest committee is advised differently. The work will be categorized at the discretion of the contest committee. 6. Contestants are limited to three entries. 7. Each entry’ should have contestant's name, school, grade and media. Media is the material used in the art such as: waterlolor, oil. crayon, ink, pencil, charcoal, ect. Labels may be obtained from the school s art teachers or on April 22. 8. Art or craft not labeled as sue h will be labeled at the discretion of the committee. Unidentified work will be ineligible. 9. Pich grade will be judged separately from another. 10. Adults will be judged separately from students and should include address on entry blank. 11. All participants must live within the Polk, Lincoln, Johnson and St. Patrick School systems. 12. Judging will Im* done on the basis of originality, composition, color, and neatness. Mounted or mated work has best appearance. 13. Entry’ blanks, obtained in the school offices and published in the local newspaper, arc to be returned to the art department of any of the five schools by Monday, April 17, 1972. Entries brought earlier can be left w’ith the elementary school principal. 14 Entry blanks not filled in P^P’Tiy could disqualify the entry. 15. Unusual Music At Easter Service "A Day Like Today,” a musi-cal-dramatic song about the Ressurection of Jesus Christ, by Bruce Vandervalk will be sung Easter Sunday morning during the regular church service, at 10 a.m.. United Methodist Church. The part of Mary Magdalene will be sung by Mrs. Kenneth Klinedinst and that of Jesus by Wayne Randolph. The choir will assist. Drum and guitar parts will be played by Mike Klopenstein and David Bell respectively. Sherry Frame will play the flute. Mrs. David Lawrence will be at the piano. North Liberty Good Friday Service Set The First Baptist Church, 407 Elm St. North Liberty, will again have a Good Friday Service. The time for this meeting will be 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The main speaker for the service will be Rev. George Joseph and Mr. Allen Balsley. Rev. Joseph has been working as a missionary among the negroes of South Bend for the past five years. His God given wisdom and success in this work have made him a popular speaker in fundamental conferences and meetings all over the United States. This summer he will be addressing the National Convention of the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches. Mr. Allen Balsley who is currently finishing werk for his degree at Grand Rapids Baptist Coilego. who has spo ken in ’ th p Good b riday services for the past two years, grew up in North Liberty. He is well known and appreciated by the people of the community. The services will be held in ! n building which is adjacent to the former meeting place, zkccording to the pastor, Rev. A program for all faiths, this will feature Rev. Matteson, pastor of the Koontz Lake Missionary Church as the speaker Special music will be provided by choirs of the Presbyterian and Wesleyan Churches. Zuster Egg Hunt Set Saturday The annual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Walkerton Fire Department is set for Saturday, April 1 at Place Park with the hunt to begin at 2:00 p.m. sharp. The egg hunt is open to children through 11 years of age an i there will be cash prizes for those finding lucky eggs. North Liberty Easter Egg Hunt Set There will be an Easter Egg Hunt in North Liberty Park on Saturday April 1, begming at 3 p.m. The hunt will be for all children in the North Liberty community Pre-School through Fourth Grade. There will be prizes awarded in each age catagory.
