SECTIONAL TIME IN THE Hoo icr State is the time of no return for Indiana biketball teams as the four week elimination will choose one team as the cream of the Indiana crop for the 1971-1972 season. IT IS NOT ALWAYS THE best team, the best record, or the second best that comeg out of the tourney as it could be replayed again a week later and have surprisingly different results. This makes it strictly a gam e to game tourney and you can throw away the season records for this one. It is true that the best records will probably get the bulk of the support until they come up against that next good team. This is the point that every side has to be con- ® dered. schedule, hi tory against the type of teams you play, your strength and weakness eg again-t th- i-r strength and weaknesses and what mental attitude can bo acquired for these one shot gnmus. TILE SECTIONAL. WE ARE naturally most concerned in is the La Ville meet. John Glenn wll take the best record into th’a sev» n team meet, but will not .-•hare the favorites roll by too many because of the compet.tion, draw and 50 forth. The other strong teams are considered to be Plymouth and South B- nd Jackson and all three of these are bunched together in the luck of the draw This makes for a tourney where a darkhorse could come though by playing that one real good game and the host LaVille and also Bremen teams set in that po. ition. BREMEN FINISHED WITH A 7-12 record but wa- a team that could gvc a good t>-am a r<al battle or lo e by a bi® margin. the choice over an AigOj team that started early and fast this year but ran out of gas too quick a; they finished with a 12 and 7 record after be ng 11 and 2 in th 0 middle of January. THE WEDNESDAY NIGHT game will pit Ply-mouth., 10 and 10, against Glenn, 15 and 6. The Plymouth team has won the last two titles at Lake Ville, but has undergone a big rebuilding job this year. Last Friday they had two sophomores, a i>air of juniors aJid a lone senior. One senior who regularly starts, was on the sick li t and his status will not be known until game time. Glenn will have much more experience in the lineup, as much if not more size and that edge in talent but w;ll have more than their hands full. Plymouth can be a ferocious rebounding team, pe.-ky on defense and certainly a hu tling team. These three factors have be«.n present in all of Glenn's losso^ this year and could op?n the conference. They will have to hit the boards hard on both ends and work the ball better and faster to get the good fhola. The competition edge .s clearly Plymouth's and on thi< basis wee fed Plymouth wll end Glenn's rewarding tea on that would be real outstanding vtii a sectional win. FRIDAY NIGHT SHOULD BE an action rued night regardle s who wins the first round. We see Bremen and LaVille having a real dandy and on a hunch think Bremen can win despite giving away a lot of size. They are short on talent, but have a bood young coach who ha a ci scipkimxi bi^li club and that really counts at tourney time.

THE SECOND GA MB WILL decide the tourney winner. The knowledge 01 the two coaches, they both want to win and real y hold the respect of their players. We see Jack; on with enough pouse this year to not fold up ana be one oi three gectior.ul winner. from that six team conference. AT SOUTH BEND IT IS A case of too many good teams as both state ranked S-t. Jop and LaSalle will have plenty of competition. St. Joe got the break of the draw being pared with the three weaker team.-, Clay, Marian and Wa-h.ngton A good Riley team is LeSalle's first opponent and Adams or Mishawaka will be waiting. Our pick is St. Joe. AT KNOX., a six team m et has four teams with w.nning records and should be a dandy Our choice would be for North Judson to di.- pose of the field after getting a break in the draw with Knox and Winamac meet ng in the opening game. Winamac has a season v.ctory over Judson but might not even be around come Friday n.ght. Culv r is our pick to reverse a decision over Oregon-Davi Thursday only to be elim nated Friday. AT MICHIGAN CITY THERE Is one p ek. the top ranked Red Devils. At Warsaw, one fine meet should be held with four teams good enough to win the title. Rochester got the break of the draw and a first round game again t Akron with the winner in the championsh.p contest. Triton. Warsaw or Wawasee could escape the bottom bracket but we will favor Warsaw to go all the way in this one. At Elkhart Penn has established themselves as the favorite and we will choose them over Elkhart Ln the final game even though beat.ng Elkhart at home in a sectional is almo ,t basketball's version of Mission Impossible.
