Falcons Shine And Then Falter In Loss To Knox The John Glenn Falcons put together what was probably the finest two quarters of basketball in their brief history Satuiday night as they routed the Knox Redskins for the first half to take a commanding 52-36 halftime lead. They basically protected th's in the third period and took a 72-58 lead into the final period. This brought about an unbelieveable collapse in the final 8 .minutes in which Glenn could do very little right and Knox could do no wrong. Two nine point scoring streaks aided by very irequent John Glenn errors, made up the difference and gave the host Redskins an exciting 87 to 86 victory. The loss was the sth for the Falcons in 18 decisions this year. John Harness started otf the big first half in which the Falcons were not only hot, but very aggressive and forced the breaks to go their way. He hit from the Side from 14 foot after just six seconds had elapsed. Dave Palmer tied it with a lay in but one of two from the foul line by 811 Faugher and another net burner by Harness from the left corser put the Falcons ahead for th c re. t of the contest except for the final seconds of the game. The Redskins' high scormg 6’ 5” junior, Pat Blenke, hit his first of the n gh: from 14 foot in the lam but Karnes tickled the twine from 19. Blvnke put a 12 footer in but a steal and drive for a lay in by Bruce Dayhuff increased the lead to three again. Rod Pawlick hit a pair of free shots but Curt Pletcher hit one free shot and Dayhuff took a fine pass from Rich ReeMe for a lay in. Blenke added one to Knox’s total but the Falcons were on fire and Dayhuff scored again from under and then put in a 17 footer on which h® was fouled to make it a three point play and a 17-9 had. Blenke and Palmer hit back to back free throws but Dayhuff cont nued his dazzling display by putting a • uper move on to get free for a lay in. Harness then hit two free throws and thin a long from the left side. Blenke pumped in two more with 13 seconds left but Dayhuff scored on the business end of a fast break to make it 25 to 13 at the end of the first period. The second continued along the same Hnes, the Falcons putting it together with a hustling attack to dominate the gam e in the Redskins' back yard, not an every night happen ng. They were continuing to get the breaks as they were making the e breaks with their hurtling, good play. Joe Jaske opened wth an 8 footer and after Palmer scored from fix. Harness bombed another from the corner. Dan Moss hit one of two from the charity stripe and Pahner hit twice but Jaske came back with a three po nter on a lay in and
