Falcons Win Holiday Tourney Over Good Field g ve Winamac their final lead of the night at 42 to LI Flaugher hit from in close o make it 43-42 at the end of three. From here on out, it was all down hill for Glenn. The Falcons had Broken the defen e of Dayhuff and the offensive show he put on in this quarter had all the fans buzzin. He started it with a 13 footer and Brad Gillies*, who came into his own in this tourney, hit on a lay in. Roth pigged in Winamac’s first basket of the final stanza, tut Gillies connected again. After Gillies it was all Dayhuff as he scored 13 points in the final 4:30 to boost the Falcon lead steadily with the balance of the Falcon points. The Warriors made an effort late in the conte t when Glenn made some bail handling errors in trying to be careful, but the six point surge >n the final minute simply cut the final margin of victory to six points, 61-58. Dayhuff and Pletcher were the big guns on offense with 27 and 16 but without the hard board work of Harness with a good assist from Pletcher, this victory could not have been. Roth had 19 to pace Winamac and Dickeneheets and Poor 13 each. Rossville was one of those teams that never lets up but the Falcons were ready for the occasion. Don Phebus wasted no time in putting the Hornets ahead with a 20 footer after just 10 seconds. Dayhuff matched this and the n p and tuck battle was cn. After Larry Canine followed immediately on the third basket in less than 30 seconds. Jot Jaske took over the offensive chores for the Falcons with seven straight points. The Hornets were matching this and *he teams ju t traded points with Dayhuff’s lay in with eight seonds left pushing Glenn to a 22-21 firs, period lead. It was just that tight all the way. The second quarter found both team s scoring 21 points but the action developed some patterns as Glenn dominated for a short stretch and then the Hoi nets, had their moments. Afer Phebus opened th s quarter also, a Glenn charge found John Harness hitting first and then Bill Flaugher on a three point play. Flaugher cracked another and a basket by Brad Gillie^ made the lead 30 to 22 as Rossville went over three minuces without a basket. They did start a rash of free throws after a technical on the coach. Garry Kamstra hit three and Canin e two and Canine added a basket while Dayhuff was getting one for Glenn to whittle the margin to 32 to 29. Gillies and Flaugher hit back to back to open this lead to 36 to 29 but Rossville was not dead yet. A basket on a fast break by Dayhuff gav e Glenn a 42 to 33 Dad late in the quarter for their biggest lead of the night, but the scrappy Hornets rallied for the last e.ght points of the quarter to cut the Falcon kad to a single point, 42-41 by the main intermission. Two big factors in cho second period was the play of Flaugher who replaced the foul laden Jaskt as he did both good board work and scoring to boost the Falcon offense. Also the ability

to beat the Hornet press in this period largely on tne efforts of Rich Reece, was important. Gleen started ratner slowly in the second half as turnovers had a big’ part, Kamscra opened the scoring and after Gillies hit for the Falcons, errors gave tht Hoi ne is several opportunities and Rossville took advantage of this to pop in a couple quick ba. ketS; The Hornets, behind Darrell Boyd’s two quick ones took a 47 to 44 lead but Dayhuff and Flaugher h t after the Falcons settled down to push the Falcons back on cop. Canine hit a pair of bucket^ sandwiched around another Dayhuff shot but Harness and Gilaes scored with Kamstra hittinf in between to ke. p Glenn on top. Dayhuff made ic 56 to 53 but a quicky by Kamstra pulled them within one. Harness, scored next but Kamscra made a three pointer to tie the game and Kenny Sheets hit a free throw to give Rossville an edge, 59 o 58, at the end of the third quarter. Another great offensive performance by Dayhuff was about to unfold to give Glenn the win. Curt Pletcher knotted the score wich a free throw only to have Kam.tr a hit a long and then a charity shot for a four point lead before Dayhuff took over. He hit two baskets and then a free throw for the lead and after Kamstra hit one from the line, it was a three pointer and then another basket for the junior sharpshooter to up the lead to six before Canine converted a three point play for the Hornets. Two more Dayhuff free throws pretty well iced things up as Rossville was pressing and not hitting from the floor. Dayhuff’s last basket of his 14 point surge came with 58 seconds left to keep the lead at three after Rossville had made their final effort and two free throws by Gillies followed two by Kamstra to make the final marg'n 75-72. Kamstra, who is getting some all state talk, ended with 36 on a dozen baskets and 12 of 14 at the line. Canine, a very promising sophomore, had 22 for Rossville. Dayhuff finished with 32 to cop the Glenn offense and reserve strength was obvious as Flaugher and Gillies both hit the double figures with 11 and 10 re pectively. The victory was truly a team effort as coach Hans went to his bench for help and got it as well as fine work from his starters. This Christmas Day, our son became sick and as much as we hated to bother anyone on Christmas we had to call the doctor. Dr. Fenstermacher happened to be on duty this Christmas. He ordered medicine from the drug store and told me Mr. Jacob would call me. When Mr. Jacob called to say he would meet us at the store, I apoligizcd for Bothering him on Christmas Day. Ho told me to think nothing of it that he was just sorry we had someone sick on Ch a tmas. This wasn’t the first time he opened the store after hours, the other time was

in below zero weather and at 2 a.m. Al o Dr. Fnstermacher willingly seen our boy that evening and aftar I again apoligized for bothering him on Christma-, he on.y told us to thnk nothing of it. He told us to be sure to call on Sunday to let him know how he, was getting along and if he got worse during the night, no matter what time, to call. In what other town, email or large, can we find doctors and druggist so dedicated and truiy interested in the welfare of the people. We believe that they deserve every cent they make. I just hope that the people of Walkerton appreciate what fne doctors and druggist we have. A spacial thanks goes to Dr. Fenstermacher and Mr. Jacob.
