Shamrocks Lose Pair Last Week The North Liticrty Shamrocks dropped a pair of basketball games over the holiday, losing to Mishawaka Marian on Wednesday night 68-49 and then a 79-58 decision to a great one man show in the first home game as Knox visited on Friday. The Maidan game started on a slow scoring pace but was a close one for the first quarter as the two teams were ted 12 and 12. However, the second period decided the game as the Shamrocks did not score a field goal in over half of this period and the host Marian team pulled to a 29-21 halftime lead. Marian then had the momenteum go ng and broke it wide open in the third rtanza. Outscoring the Shamrocks 24-11 in this eight minutes, the Knights pulled safely ahead and coasted in with the 08-49 victory. Monserez and R.tter hit 15 to pace the winners and Squadroni also was in double figures with 13. Kevin Hunt scored 14, all from the field, to 'pace the Shamrockjs who suffered th ir tecond defeat in as many st irts. Marian also captured the preliminary game 40-33. Jay Scott paced the Shamrock B team as he hit 13. Roaming well under both taakets, the talented Redskjn was a one man gang he dropped in 42 points on 12 ba kets and 18 charity shots and hauled in an unb'lieveable 34 rebounds in guiding the Knox team to a 79-58 triumph over the Shamrocks. North Liberty again was able to atay with their opponents in the early going, but the efforts (> f Blenke was too much as the night progressed. The Shamrocks held a 15-14 lead after one but started to fall behind in the second quarter. Knox really got hot after the first period and had 20 point quarters in both the second and third stanzas to grib a haltime lead of 3-1-27 and ’hen blew it wide open in the third to lead 54-33. Both t^ms ored freely in the final period th the visitors from Starke flinty hitting 25 to the Shun’ock. 20. Ths boosted the final Mangin to 21 points, 79-58. Brumm, 73, 8228 Van Buren Avenue, Munster, Indiana. a summer re ident of Koontz Lake, passed away on Monday, November 29, at St. Margaret Hospital Hammond. Survivors include hs wife Fannie: four sons, Gust ive of Landing, Illinois; Robert of South Holland 11l nois; Raymnd of Munster; and Donald of St. Lous, Mo.; two daughters, Mes. El can r (Robert) Kahl of Crown Point; and Mrs. Jane (Leslie) Thonesen of Reedy, California; three brothers, Elmer of Singer, California; Walter and Dewain, both of M ureter; two sb-tens, Mrs. Gertrude Ryan of Sunnyvale, California; and Mrs. Margaret Vierk of Lansing, Illino.s; 17 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. Services will be held Thursday, December 2 at 1:00 p.m. in the Schroder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing. Rev. J. W. Acker will officiate. Burial will te in Concoma Cemetery. Leo Verk Zimmerman Funeral services for Leo Verle Zimmerman, 60. of 904 Van Buren Street,, Walkerton, who died at 8:45 Wedne day Novtmber 24, in the E Street Division Hospital LiPorte, after an extended illness, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton. Rev. Clyde Wake pastor of the United Methodi-1 Church. officiated. Burial was in the IOOF Cometary, Rochester. Indiana. Zimmemun was born March 9, 1911 in Rochester and had been a res dent of Walkerton for 35 years coming from Rcherfer. On September 3, 1930, he married Marguerite Thmp >n who survives. Christinas Concert At North Liberty Tuesday Evening The North Liberty Music Departments will present their annual “Holiday and Harmony" Christmas Concert on Tuesday, December 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school gym. The program will feature the Elementary Cadet Band, Junior High Band and the Senior Band, highlighted with a medley of Christmas Carols performed ty the combined bands and a ring a long invitation for the audience to participate. Tickets can be purchased from any of the band members w.th a special family ticket at $2.50; adults, SI.OO and students at 50 cents. The bands are under the direction of Mr. Richaid Van Der Salvation Army Drive Regins This Saturday The Walkerton Salvation Army fund drive will start this Saturday and continue the following two Saturdays as the only local fund raising for this cause unfo'.ds. All the activities of the local Salvation Army commttee. which includes cnsiderable h-'lp to many families at Christmas time, come from this three-day drive. As in pvt years, the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Chib and American Legion are being asked to man the kettles, one at the corner of Roosevelt Road and Illinois and one at Illinois and Van Buren Street.
