The Rialto Tneatre collected $51.65 last week for the United Service Organization in its drive all over the country for funds. Has Nice Orchard Mr. and Mrs. John Blazich, who moved from Chicago to Walkerton three years ago, and purchased a faun on road 23, a half mile south of Walkerton, have been delighted with the progress made by their young orchard during that time. Mr. Blazich purchased and set out 1,000 young trees, of various kinds, and this year has seen many of them heavy with fruit. Wil Hold 2nd Bank Hearing The Department of Finance Institutions of Indiana announced this week that it would hold a second hearing in the town hall at North Liberty on the petition to organize and incorporate a state bank at that place. Greene Addition To Be Ready October 15 The new addition to the Greene township school which has been under construction by the H. G. Christman Co., of South Bend is being rushed to completion as rapidly as possible. 1916 The Old Farm Horse ■StAI- Indispensable Today, when tne tractor is coming into favor as a source of farm power, there are those wildeyed extremists who would have Us believe that the horse is bound to be abolished from the farm. This same propaganda was preached at the time when steam power replaced horse power for driving the old time threshers. As a result of this recent aw-aking in favor of tractor power, horse breeders have become alarmed again at what seems to be a direct blow at their business. Opening For Schoo! Mrs. Esther Harman attended a family dinner on Labor Day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sorgenfrei and family in South Bend. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sims Sr., who will be celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Sunday, September 12. Mr. and Mrs. Fred DeCoudres attended the wedding Saturday of Miss Becky Sue McNutt and Michael Blaster at the Lutheran Church, Muncie, Indiana. Miss McNutt is a cousin of Mr. DeCoudres. Mr. and Mis. Frank Rauen spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Deitrich at Carmel, Indiana. Bert Krieg, father of Rev. Dean Krieg, is a surgical patient in the General Hospital, Marion, Indiana. Mr, and Mrs. M. L. Clark were last Friday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Rolla Clark. Lakeville. In the evening, they called on Mr, and Mrs. Russell Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Taylor and Nellie Smith spent Monday afternoon with Mrs. Zula Follin in Ply-mouth. Mr. and Mrs. Harman Hawblitzel and family returned to their home at Duarte. California, after visiting relatives and friends here. Mr. and Mrs. Carol Wharton. Nellie Smith.
