the founding of Epsilon Chi chapter at a dinner Thursday in the LaPorte Holiday Inn. Mrs. Richard Bodine of Mish awaka, Province Ten Officer, attended the event and extended her congratulations to the chap ter. Other guests included Mrs. Robert Hi ler, Li Porte; Mrs David Mellin, Plymouth; Mrs. Ihittie Wayne. South Bend, and Mrs. Paul Crousore, Walkerton. Thirty one chapter members were present for the dinner. Ten of the 16 original charter members were honored at the dinner. They were Mrs. Hiler, Mrs Mellin. Mrs. Bryce Rohrer, Mrs. Russell Hartsough. Mrs. Mahon Jacob, Mrs. Denslow Doll, Mrs. Wayne Burch. Mrs Lloyd Thomas, Mrs. Robert Gardner and Mrs. Arthur Schmeltz. During a brief business session Mrs James Patterson reported that the Christmas bazaar was a resounding success. Members voted to hold a second bazaar next year. The group also decided to contribute SSO to the Urey Middle School Football fund. Mrs Hal Muncie announced the annual style show will bo held March 25 with Cai son Pirie Scott & Company of Michtg in City pre senting the fashions To highlight the anniversary observance Mrs Rohrer explained how the chapter u is organized. A group of 16 Walkert >n women comprised the first initiation class dedicated to the Tri Kappa aims of charity < ulture and education. The late Mrs C Emmet Eiier served as the first president. During the last 10 years a tot4l of 62 members have been active in the work of Epsilon Chi. The chapter has three current projects which support its budget the Christmas bazaar in Nov ember, the antique show Feb. 27 and 28, and the fashion show. Each year the group presents the S3OO Marjorie Filer scholarship to a John Glenn High School senior, gives honor awards to outstanding Urey School eighth graders, sponsors students at band and cheerleading camps and cq sponsors the ait show with the local ITA and St. Patrick s W«>man's Club It aso he ps finan Cially with dental care for Ex- J children holds a tea for JGHS K, mor girls and their mothers ca- h spring nd * ipports many area mental health projects. ter members were serenaded by a sextet which sang two humor ous origmal numbers written by Mrs. Rchard Hershberger The sextet was comprised of Mrs. Kenneth Klmedinst Mrs Edward Keeling, Mrs. Alvin Boise Mrs. John Wolff, Mrs. James Patterson and Miss Linda Huhnke The charter member, responded with an original song written by Mrs. Rohrer, Each person attending received a crossword puzzle made up of the names of each member an original work by Mrs. Errol Van Buskirk and Mrs Robert Stockwell. A two-tiered cake, was baked by Mrs. Carl Christianson, president, and decorated by Mrs Van Buskirk, was served for dessert. Following the dinner members reminisced of the last 10 years as they observed charter, its first scrapbook and pictures t iken at the time of the installation. II A NEWS Friday.
