Shamrocks Drop Final Game To Jackson Friday The North L.berty Shamrocks finished their 1970 football season on a losing note Friday as a 26-6 decision was dropped to the Tigers of Jackson. Being out classed in about every department except hustle and spin it. the Shamrocks managed once again this year to hang tough for a large part of the ball game before falling to superior forces. The loss climixed the Shamrock season with a 17- 1 record. Jackson broke the scoreless battle midway in the second period as they took possession of the ball on the Shamrock 39. It took just e ght plays before the combination of quarterback Greg Landry and end Bob Ke.sey connected on a nine yard scodng pass. The try for the extra point from placement was wide but Jackson had gamed a 60 lead which they held until halftime. The third quartet found the T ger team breaking the game wide open with a three touchdown surge that upped the !«• id to 26-Q Jeff Troeger hit pay dirt first on a three yard run that cl.maxed an 11 play d.he of 53 yards. Once again the extra pant try. this time a pass, fa led for Jackson. A pass interception of a Sham, rock aerial set up the third TD for the South Bend school Putting the ball in play at their own 22, the drive started and was greatly aided by two Shamrock penalties of 15 yards each. A bomb from Landry to end Rick Stre.ch covered 31 yaids in all, and Brian Wilde kicked the extra point for a 19-0 lead with 3:35 left on the clock in the third period. Another pass Interception was quickly forth com ng as the option pass was tried by Devon Rohs only to fall into Kelsey's hands. He returned to the 26 yard line and five plays later, Landry found a hole through the midd.e and went in from five yards out. Wilde kicked the ext.a po nt again and with just 15 seconds remained in the period it was 26 0 in flavor of the Tigers The Shamrocks managed to get on the board late ,n the contest when Devon Ross piled in ftom the two yard line with 2:25 remaining to climax a 67 yard drive. A pass for two points failed and the game ended that way 26 6. despite a deep thrust by Jackson .n the closing seconds.
