Mr. and Mrs. Paul Williams left Monday for Avon Park, Florida where they will spend the Waiter. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Strope returned home last Thursday from Bolivar, Tenn., where they visited Mr. and Mrs George Worley and family and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Strope and family. Mrs Carrie Hawblltzel is in the Catdinal Nursing Home, cor ner of LaSalle and Eddy Streets in South Bend. Mrs. Grove Perry, Lakeville, is in the R.dgedale Nursing Home South Bend and Donald Perry is a patient in the St. Joseph Hospital. Mr. and Mrs Frank Rauen reson and family, Mr. and Mrs. turned home from visiting their Frank Rauen in Monett, Missouri and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Beaudoin at Forsyth, Missouri. Mrs Man-in Kizer, of Quinn Road, entertained guests at a carry-in dinner last Thursday in honor of her sister, Mrs. Walter McCutcheon and friend Fran. Guests were Mrs. Florence Weise, Mrs. Ralph Hilligas and Miss Alice Wittenburg. of South Bend; Mrs. Kenneth Reed and Mrs. Dean Holderread, of Plymouth; Mrs. Everett Baker. Walkerton; Mrs Ruth Bare. Lewis Whitaker, Lakeville, caded on his mother, Mrs. Walter Taylor, on Tuesday. Mrs. Howard Mllller, the former Jane Heim, is ill in her home in South Bend Mr. and Mrs. Guy Rizek and children spent several days at the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. Mrs. Hany Miller, of State Road 23. is a patient in St. Joseph Hospital. She sustained a broken hip several weeks ago. Mi's. Miller is the former Dorothy Foote. Mr. and Mrs Leslie Foreman and Mrs. C. E. Hevel spent Sunday, October 18, with the latter’s son and family. Mr. and Mrs. Don Hevel and daughters, of Grand Rapids. Michigan. Mrs. Joe Medlin, LaPaz. and M r s. Hazel Wisenbaugh called on Mrs. Nellie Smith on Tuesday. Mrs. Merlin Arnold has re» turned to her home in Osceola after being a patient for several weeks in the Osteopathic Hospital. South Bend. Diane Clady, Lakeville, entertained guests at a birthday dinner Sunday. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Laßue Donathen and Beth and Mrs. Myrtle Donathen of North Liberty; Mr. and Mrs David Donathen, Chicago and Mrs Wayne Diffendorger and son Scott of South Bend. The occasion was in honor of the birthdays of Mrs Laßue Dona athen and Mrs Myrtle Donathen. mother and grandmother of Diane.
Mr. and Mrs Tom Spriggs and baby son of Roling Prairie were Sunday afternoon visitors of Mr. and Mis. Fred Schultz. Sunday Mi. and Mrs. Earl Kreig and Rev. and Mrs Dean Krie ; and family attended a fam. Hy get together at Warren, Indiana.. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Clinginpeel and some friends spent last weekend in Southern Indiana where they enjoyed the colorful trees including Brown County OVER SIXTY CU B * The Over Sixty Club meeting was held on October 14 with 39 present. The meeting opened with the election of officers as follows: Edith Steele, president; Edna Knepp, vice president and Thema Hay, secretary-treasurer. The program consisted of the showing of slides and a talk by Mrs. Lee Smith Jr., wife of Dr. Lee Smith, M.D., and Optometrist in South Bend. The subject was “Their Experiences As Missionaries in Puerto Rico " There was a question and answer session and friendly visits with Mrs. Smith by many knowng them when Dr. Smith was a practitioner in North Liberty. The meeting was opened with the song of the month, Dixie, ■followed by the salute to the Flag and the club creed Roll H was answered by mv one extravagence by seventeen members and two guests. One new nienibe r present was Mrs. Melvin Harrison. Instead of a lesson the group had a receipe swap with many delicious salads and desserts auctioned off by the president, Mrs. Jack Tiede. The secretary and treasurers reports were read. A committee report was given by Mrs Joseph Lowry for the nominating committee with the new officers slate for the next year as Mrs Ralph Jackson, president; Mr^ Harold Rizek. vice-president; Mrs. Kerry Reed, secretary; Mrs. Eugene Zimmerman, treasurer and Mrs. Jack Tiede, song leader A motion was made by Mrs. Warner Clark and seconded by Mrs. Dale Ullery to accept the new slate of officers. Discussion was held on donating money for the Christmas Seal Campaign A motion was made by Mrs. Ed Cole and seconded by Mrs. Gerald Creed to give to this worth cause. The club also voted to have the club's name placed on the Lion’s Birthday Calendar. The club was told of two trips going into Chicago the first part
of December. Anyone wanting to go is to contact the people in charge, A p.mning committee wag formed with the following ladies: Mrs. Harold Rizek, Mrs. Eugene Zimmerman, Mrs. Joseph Lowry and Mrs. Janies Bolze A ways and means committee was also formed with Mrs. Kerry Reed. Mrs. Jack Tiede, Mrs. Robert Schaffer and Mrs. Ja< k Ryan making up this committee. The club collect was read and Mrs. Tiede gave prayer.
