Late Score Breaks Tie To Defeat Falcons A controversial touchdown by South Central s Don Pulver with 36 seconds left, cost the Falcons of John Glenn a tie game Friday n.ght and instead handed the Fa.cans defeat number three this season against three wins and one tie On a crucial fourth and goal from the one. Pulver tried the sneak that afte r unpiling a number of p.ayers and the officiais studying the location of the ball on the very crooked goal line, they ruled the nose was a little bit over the chalk line and ruled a score. The loss was a heart breaking one for the injury r.dd.ed Falcons who placed with out senior quarteback Jim Lute and also lost their leading rusher and scorer, Joe Jaske. m the th.rd jieriod after he hid scored ad It of the Falcon points in the 20-14 loss. The Falcons early errors and failure to get in the end zone in the opening minutes of the final quarter really was the factor that cost them the game A fumble early in the contest resulted m the first South Central score as the Falcons had received the kick and moved for two first downs and appeared to have a sustained drive going Running on a first and 10 from the South Central 43. a missed handoff was bouncing free when Artie Fryman picked up the loose ball and had no trouble sprinting into the end zone for a 55 yard run and a 6-0 lead. This came with 8:05 left in the opening quarter. The Falcons then found the Laporte County team increasing the lead to 14-0 in the final 29 seconds of the opening stanza as the Satellites put on a 69 yard drive in five plays with a big gainer of 54 yards on a screen pass on the first p.ay After two incomplete passes, a third down play netted a first and goal from the one as Pulver connected for a 14 yard gainer to Matt Yagelski Pulver then did the honors himself, sneaking m from the one and then bootlegged into the end zone again for the two point conversion making it 14-0 Fairly late in the half, the Falcons finally got started. A South Central punt put th.- ball on the Falcon 31 and after a 5 yard proceedure penalty backed it to the 26. the Falcon . led by sophomore quarterback John Harness, started to move. A cute little pass and lateral going from Harness to Ron Johnson to Alan Northam, the trailing back, resulted in a 27 yard gam to get the drive going A fate ma>k violation helped 15 yards and on a crucial fourth and 2 from the 25, Jaske sprinted all the way for the Falcons' fast score He also added the extra point and it was 14-8 the way the first half ended some 2 17 later The Fa Icons second score was set up by a gamble that didn t work After taking the second half kickoff and getting one first down, the Satellites decided to go for a fourth and one from the Falcon 46 A goal defensive charge stacked the pay up and the measurement showed a foot and a half short and Glenn had the bail. On the first play Jaske tore loose for 27 and then it was gams of 6,3, 5 and 4 before J iske ran it in again from nine yards out. On the extra point try, Jaske was creamed real goixi a good clean, but h ird tackle, and besides being short of the end zone, he was knocked out for the season with a knee injury John Glenn then got the bill

Use Our Uliututied Ade again after South Central was forced to punt and moved from their own 26 the entire way down the field with a big 34 yard pass p.ay from Harness to Northam the key play Getting a fust and goal from the 8, the Falcons pushed to the one on fourth down but were stop|xd short of pay dirt on the fourth down. South < Central then failed to make a fir t down and punted to the.r own 34 where the F alcons pit the bail in play again. However, an interception on a fourth and Six from the 19 stopped this drive on the five and the Sate.Utes started an lx play drive that covered 95 yards with the controvtrsial score on the last play Aga.n it was a big screen pass p.ay that netted the big gain as this time it worked for 40 yards on a timd and 1U situation.
